You’ve heard the saying “as Ohio goes, so goes the nation” – and in Ohio, a new Rasmussen Poll out today shows a wide disapproval gap among voters for the Democrats’ health care bill with 53% opposed versus only 41% who support it.
This is only marginally better than the numbers nationwide as a new CNN/Opinion Research poll also released today shows support plummeting for the Democrats’ health care bill: CNN/ORC survey finds 61% are against it while only 36% support it.
Similarly, today’s Rasmussen poll continues to show Republican Senate candidate Rob Portman leading both of the Democrat Senate candidates as they continue to battle it out in a primary. Notably, these numbers also mirror a November 12th poll from Quinnipiac.
NOTE — Overall, 41% of Ohio voters support the health care plan proposed by President Obama and congressional Democrats, while 53% are opposed. These numbers are comparable to those found nationwide. Also like most in the country, the majority (64%) believe the legislation will increase the federal deficit, and 61% find it very likely the middle class will be forced to pay more in taxes to cover the plan.
