In light of this morning’s news that the Democrat establishment in Washington succeeded in convincing Cal Cunningham to reverse his earlier decision and enter the Senate race in North Carolina after all, the NRSC released the following statement:
“Cal Cunningham’s sudden change of heart regarding a Senate run certainly raises questions about the promises he received from the Democrat establishment in Washington during the last month. Should Cunningham close the huge gap in the polls and emerge victorious from the three-way Democrat primary little more than five months away, voters in North Carolina will have a clear choice in the General Election: a vote for Cunningham, whose political views are outside the mainstream of the Tar Heel state’s electorate and who represents another loyal foot-solider in the Obama-Reid agenda, or a vote for Richard Burr, whose laser-like focus on the interests and needs of his state have repeatedly earned him praise from Democrats and Republicans alike.” – Colin Reed, NRSC Spokesman
