Chairman Cornyn's Statement on the Minnesota Senate Campaign

Attention: open in a new window. PrintE-mail

Chairman Cornyn has issued the statement below on the Minnesota Senate Campaign.  With Al Franken joining the US Senate, the Democrats now have unchecked power in Washington. This goes to show just how critical the 2010 election is.  Your support will help elect a Republican majority.

“I would like to commend both Norm Coleman and Al Franken on a hard fought campaign.  In particular, I would like to be among the first to welcome Al Franken to the United States Senate.

“This has been a long process and while both sides would have preferred a speedier outcome, full, fair and free elections are what make our nation great.  That’s why I have so much respect for Norm Coleman.  I’ve known Norm not just as a friend and colleague, but as a devoted public servant who recognized that this legal challenge was not just about him.  It was about making sure no Minnesotan was disenfranchised in this election.

“Throughout the last several months, Senate Republicans have made clear that the people of Minnesota, not politicians in Washington, should decide this election.  Now that the courts have spoken, I join Norm in respecting that decision and moving forward to address the important issues facing our country.

“The implications of this Senate race are particularly significant because the Democrats will now have 60 votes in the Senate.  With their supermajority, the era of excuses and finger-pointing is now over.   With just 59 votes, Senate Democrats in recent months have passed trillion-dollar spending bills, driven up America’s debt, made every American taxpayer a shareholder in the auto industry and now want Washington to takeover America’s health care system.  It’s troubling to think about what they might now accomplish with 60 votes.

“That’s why the American people will now have a particularly clear choice in next year’s election – to continue down this path of fiscal mismanagement, more big government, and one-party control in Washington or to restore a system of checks and balances that will hold government accountable to its citizens."

  1. If you want people to donate to Senators campaigns make sure they vote NO on the Cap and Trade Tax Bill & the Health Care Reform Bill.
Americans cant afford either! WE ARE TAXED ENOUGH ALREADY! You want us to donate or vote for a Republican then VOTE Republican!

This isnt communist China, nobody should have to pay a fine if they dont have health insurance. Also abortion isn't health care and I dont want one penny to go to paying for the killing of the most innocent in our society. If a female wants to kill their unborn child then they should pay for it.
There has been talk that Planned Parenthood may become - a primary healthcare provider? Id rather die then be a patient of Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood covers up for child predators and that makes me sick just thinking about it. The other services that Planned Parenthood provides can be provided by County Health Clinics. STOP giving our Tax money to Planned Parenthood!!!!!!!!!!
  2. This comment is in response to an email I received from Senator Cornyn for a donation to the RNC.
I'll start donating to the Republican party when they go back to their conservative roots. The party has moved so far from where it was when Ronald Reagan was president that it's no longer recognizable. This past Presidential election there was really no difference between John McCain or Obama. The only bright spot was Sarah Palin, and the Republican party allowed her to be ripped apart.

Until the Republicans in Washington and across the country grow a spine and start really being conservative--stop making decision on pole results--my husban and I won't be making any donations.

I am not happy about Al Franken being elected, I know what this means for the Senate and the country. But as I said, the republican party needs to go back to it's conservative roots. The American people need to see that there is a difference between the parties.
  3. Al Franken is just one more clown added to an increasingly comical and ineffective group of people. And as a group, Democrat and Republican, alike, they are extremely ineffective at dealing with the Economic/Social/International issues that we Americans are facing.

Al Franken....the originator of the "Me Decade" actually makes an outstanding choice for the Senate....he'll fit right in. It seems to me all Senators are self-serving and fail to listen to any of their constituents.

Republican Incumbants are GUILTY also. My two Senators, Chamblis and Isaakson, refused to listen to their constituents and voted FOR the 700Bailout....yep, the same one that Republicans now claim is a Democrat Scheme and now claim to be AGAINST.

All incumbant Republican Senators are just as clownish as Al Franken.
    You disappoint me.
