As House Democrats Condemn Grayson’s Latest Outburst, Meek Remains Conspicuously Silent

WASHINGTON - As controversial Democrat firebrand U.S. Representative Alan Grayson (D-FL) announced today that he stands by his radio interview outburst calling a top female adviser to Ben Bernanke a "K Street whore," a number of Grayson’s House colleagues have condemned his statements.

Nevertheless, U.S. Representative and Senate hopeful Kendrick Meek (D-FL) has remained conspicuously silent about his home-state Democrat colleague, thus far refusing to speak out and condemn Grayson’s offensive and chauvinistic comments.

According to CBS News, "Outspoken Democratic Rep. Alan Grayson is under fire from both Republicans and Democrats after a month-old radio interview was posted online in which Grayson is heard calling an adviser to Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke a ‘K Street whore.’"

Last month, Grayson made news when he claimed the GOP wanted Americans to "die quickly" and referred to the health care system as a "holocaust in America."

"Kendrick Meek wants the people of Florida to promote him to the United States Senate, yet he’s not willing to stand up to his own party and condemn overtly derogatory, sexist, and belittling commentary from one of his own colleagues," said National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spokeswoman Amber Wilkerson Marchand.

In the wake of these outrageous comments, many Democrat lawmakers have distanced themselves from Grayson. U.S. House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) called the charges "inappropriate and unfair," U.S. Representative Bill Pascrell (D-NJ) said "there’s no call for that language" and called Grayson’s comments "absurd."

U.S. Representative Dina Titus (D-NV), like Grayson a member of the 2008 freshman class in the House, referred to Grayson’s latest outburst as a "bit extreme and rather sexist."

"How can Floridians expect Kendrick Meek to stand up to Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and President Obama on the critical issues facing his state such as health care and the economy when Meek can’t even stand up against blatantly inflammatory and hate-filled language from one of his fellow House colleagues?" Wilkerson Marchand concluded.
