Portman raises $1.4 million in 4th quarter

In Ohio, Rob Portman announced another strong fundraising quarter, far outdistancing his likely Democrat opponent. Politico writes: Former Republican congressman Rob Portman announced he raised $1.4 million in the Ohio Senate race in the fourth quarter, a strong fundraising total that gives him a commanding money advantage over his Democratic opposition. Portman ended 2009 with $6 million in his campaign coffers, a total well ahead of his leading Democratic opponent, lieutenant governor Lee Fisher. Fisher announced he raised $780,000 for the final quarter of 2009, but didn’t say how much campaign cash he banked at the end of the year. Last September, Fisher reported only $1.6 million in his campaign account, and will have to spend some money in a contested Democratic primary against Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner.
