As U.S. Senate Democrat Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) announced his reelection bid today, Nevada voters are reminded that he has continually worked in lockstep with President Barack Obama to push an out-of-control spending agenda in Washington, which has inflated America’s national debt to unprecedented levels.
ABC-Las Vegas News reported today that Reid “is expected to file for re-election Monday morning” in what “promises to be one of the most-watched election races in the country.”
National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) Communications Director Brian Walsh issued the following statement today in response to Reid’s reelection bid:
“As Majority Leader Harry Reid officially announces his reelection bid in what will be the toughest battle of his political career, he will be forced to defend his reckless voting record that has saddled future generations with billions of dollars of debt.
“While unemployment has soared and Nevadans have been forced to tighten their belts to make ends meet, Harry Reid has maxed out the federal government’s credit card in Washington. Reid’s blatant lack of fiscal discipline and disregard for taxpayers’ dollars could not be more evident as he declared this past week his intention to use the ‘nuclear option’ of reconciliation – a process opposed by the majority of Americans-in order to pass his unpopular health care bill.
“There’s a reason numerous public polls continue to demonstrate that Nevadans wholly disapprove of the Harry Reid’s divisive political maneuvering in Washington. Reid has clearly lost touch with Nevadans, and voters in the Silver State will have a chance to retire his desperate and heavy-handed tactics this November.”
