In North Dakota, Roll Call reports this morning that Democrats still don’t have a top-tier candidate to against Governor John Hoeven for the open Senate seat. Former secretary of state candidate and businesswoman Kristin Hedger ruled out a run on Monday, the Grand Forks Herald reported. Her decision came less than a week after former Attorney General Heidi Heitkamp also passed on being the Democrats’ standard-bearer. Democrats have been scrambling to find a strong candidate to defend the seat of Sen. Byron Dorgan (D), who will retire at the end of his term.
