Where Does Chris Coons Stand On The Democrats’ Health Care Plan?

As House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats in Washington prepare to ram President Barack Obama’s massive health care plan through Congress this weekend, Democrat Senate candidate Chris Coons (D-DE) has conspicuously remained silent on the most contentious and heated debate that is currently taking place in our nation’s capital.

According to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO), the Democrats’ health care legislation will cost Americans $2.4 trillion in order to “save” $130 billion.

In addition, the CBO report explained that the Democrats’ proposal will:

Result in a 10 percent to 13 percent increase in individual health care premiums;

Lead to $644 billion in tax hikes, which equals a $150 billion increase over previous the amount;

Cut $525 billion in Medicare, which is a $60 billion increase over previous the amount;

Add 16 million low-income Americans to the Medicaid rolls, which will shift future costs to states; and

Overcharge on 19 million student loans to help pay for health care, diverting $3.9 billion during the first five years and $9.1 billion over 10 years.

“Delaware voters deserve to know: Where does Chris Coons stand on the Democrats’ health care legislation? Does he support the proposal moving through Congress, which will increase health care expenses, lead to higher taxes, and cut Medicare for Delaware’s seniors? Or will he stand up for the families in his state and go on the record to reject this flawed bill immediately?” asked National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spokeswoman Amber Marchand. “Chris Coons wants a promotion to the United States Senate, and Delaware voters deserve to know where he stands on the critical debates like health care that are taking place in Washington.”
