While in Ohio, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that the Democrats “are ratcheting up attacks” in their primary.
As Jennifer Brunner remains a threat to Lee Fisher’s success in a U.S. Senate primary campaign that no one thought would come this far, both candidates are ratcheting up attacks. Brunner, who is currently Ohio’s secretary of state, continued on Thursday to accuse Fisher of abandoning Ohio’s job creation efforts as director of development. She said Fisher preferred to collect campaign contributions from Ohio’s business leaders and Wall Street bankers rather than work to keep jobs from leaving the state… The campaigns have been sniping at each other for the last week over which one is more impure for criticizing Wall Street excesses and taxpayer bailouts while taking money from the employees of Wall Street brokerages or bailed-out banks. Fisher accuses Brunner of hypocrisy for criticizing him while she took donations from employees of banks that also got taxpayer bailouts.
