Blumenthal Advocates For Largest Tax Hike In American History As Connecticut Families, Job Creators Struggle

As perpetual liar Democrat Senate hopeful Dick Blumenthal (D-CT) continues to demand higher taxes on Connecticut voters as they struggle through a weak economy, his extreme position continues to alienate even his fellow Democrats.

As the Washington Post notes, “[A] growing cadre of Democrats – alarmed by evidence that the recovery is losing steam and fearful of wounding conservative Democrats in a tough election year – are advocating a plan that would permanently extend tax cuts benefiting the middle class while renewing breaks for the wealthy through 2011.”

As the Journal Inquirer reported today, Blumenthal supports the massive tax hike, which would take effect in 122 days. In stark contrast, Republican Senatorial nominee Linda McMahon (R-CT) strongly opposes any tax increase, and continues to advocate for a balanced budget through spending cuts and a balanced budget amendment.

“It’s telling that even Dick Blumenthal’s fellow Democrats are standing up against his proposal to slam Americans with the largest take hike in American history,” said National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spokeswoman Amber Marchand. “Dick Blumenthal already proved that he’s clueless on the economy when he declared that lawsuits create jobs, and his stubborn insistence on raising Americans’ taxes only underscores the fact that Connecticut families, seniors, and job creators cannot afford to send him to Washington.”
