Feingold Refuses To Take Down Desperate Smear Ad

In Wisconsin, embattled incumbent Russ Feingold is refusing to heed news outlets’ calls that he take down his latest desperate smear ad, which the Associated Press has called “misleading,” and which WKOW – a station whose footage Feingold misleadingly used in the ad – demanded he pull from the air.  WXOW La Crosse reports:

In an interview with 27 News on primary election night, U.S. Senator Russ Feingold said he will not pull his ad that features several clips of WKOW newscasts. WKOW did not give permission for the use of those clips from a copyrighted newscast… Campaign ads using new clips aren’t new, but they can blur the line between a news report and a campaign ad, making it seem like journalists are endorsing candidates. WKOW requested the Russ Feingold for Senate campaign pull the ad from airing in Wisconsin. But in an interview with 27 News’ Greg Jeschke, Feingold said he refused to pull the ads.

Meanwhile, Republican nominee Ron Johnson has launched a new TV ad, directly confronting Feingold’s desperate and dishonest smear campaign.  CLICK HERE to view Johnson’s new ad, “Money Spent.”
