With just 62 days until Election Day, U.S. Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) is attempting to expedite a process that would excuse his state from several of the unpopular and burdensome measures contained in the costly government-run health care law that he helped ram into law last year.
The Huffington Post reports that Wyden hopes to accelerate “the process of exempting his state from some of the national reforms passed under President Barack Obama.” Wyden’s sudden effort to exempt his state from certain parts of the costly government-run health care law comes on the heels of a recent Rasmussen poll showing that the overwhelming majority of Americans have rejected the health care law.
“When Ron Wyden had the chance to stand up for Oregonians and fight to fix this flawed legislation before the bill was signed into law, why didn’t he stand up for his constituents? Instead of casting the deciding vote to pass this bill, why didn’t Wyden represent Oregon’s independent voice when it counted the most?” asked National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spokeswoman Caroline Duke. “Unfortunately, Wyden’s last minute effort to extend his 30-year long tenure as a career politician only highlights the fact that he is out-of-touch with Oregonians and is only willing to stand up for their interests when he needs their votes to send him back to Washington.”
