Sherrod Brown Stands To Left Of President Obama, Demands Job-Killing Tax Hike In Wake Of Failed $787 Billion Stimulus

Stubbornly putting his own far-left ideology ahead of the best interests of Ohio’s families and job creators, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) continues to demand massive job-killing tax hikes that would slam his state’s small businesses and put Ohio families at risk of further job losses as they face nearly 10 percent unemployment in the wake of his failed $787 billion stimulus debacle.

Appearing on CNN’s John King USA last night, Brown positioned himself to the left of President Barack Obama, saying he was “very unhappy” about a bipartisan agreement to extend the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts for all Americans.

Notably, Brown falsely complained to King that not confiscating more money from families and small businesses is tantamount to “[borrowing] $700 billion from China.” But it was Brown’s own $787 billion stimulus debacle that failed to create jobs while driving our national debt past $13.5 trillion to fund a number of non-job related projects, including a study to determine how monkeys react to cocaine; $2 million to examine exotic ants; a system to purchase cell phones for smokers trying to quit, and $760,000 for a computerized choreography program, among other wasteful endeavors.

“Sherrod Brown just doesn’t get it: Ohioans are suffering from nearly 10 percent unemployment, and Brown’s solution is to raise taxes on families and small businesses after driving our national debt past $13.5 trillion with his failed stimulus debacle,” said National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spokesman Brian Walsh. “With Sherrod Brown, it’s one bad idea after another as he stands to the far left of the Democrat Party and puts his own extreme ideology ahead of the best interests of Ohio’s families and job creators.”
