Two years after President Barack Obama signed the Democrats’ $787 billion stimulus debacle into law, voters are reminded that liberal U.S. Senator Herb Kohl (D-WI) has failed to create the jobs he promised.
The Obama White House projected that their massive stimulus spending would cap national unemployment at 8 percent, and Kohl told Wisconsinites that the spending law “provide[d] both a short term boost for struggling families across the nation and tools for a more sustained, longer term recovery.” But since Kohl and the Democrats rammed their stimulus debacle into law on a party-line vote, Wisconsin has lost 47,867 jobs.
“In the two years since Herb Kohl rubberstamped President Obama’s $787 billion stimulus and promised it would create jobs, Wisconsin has actually lost more than 45,000 jobs,” said National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spokesman Chris Bond. “Senator Kohl still refuses to admit that his massive stimulus spending failed to create jobs while driving our national debt past $14 trillion, but Wisconsinites will surely see through his rhetoric and hold him accountable for his reckless spending and debt when he faces them at the polls next year.”
Meanwhile, the NRSC launched a new web video today entitled “Happy Anniversary, Stimulus,” to remind voters nationwide of the failure of the Democrats’ $787 billion stimulus debacle.

Background Information
Kohl Said The Stimulus Bill Would Provide A “Short Term Boost For Struggling Families” “‘Job losses reached a 16-year high last month, and our rural economy is under enormous strain. We need solutions that are equal to our time. In rural America we have to make some serious decisions about where and how we invest,’ Kohl said. ‘This bill provides both a short term boost for struggling families across the nation and tools for a more sustained, longer term recovery. We need to set the stage for recovery, knowing that it will be a multi-year process.’” (Senator Kohl Press Release, “Sen.
