Manchin On ObamaCare – For It, Against It, For It – And Now “No Clue”

Is anyone else getting dizzy trying to keep track of Joe Manchin’s ever-changing position on ObamaCare?

First he was FOR it, then he was AGAINST it, then he was FOR it again – well, most of it. And now, just eight weeks after voting against repealing it, Joe Manchin is now saying today that he has “no clue” on whether or not he will support defunding it. Please see the report below from Politico and CLICK HERE to watch a video recap of Joe Manchin’s repeated flip-flops on ObamaCare.

In response the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) issued the following statement:

“It’s remarkable that on one of the biggest issues facing our country, and his own state, Joe Manchin still can’t figure out where he stands. Is Senator Manchin simply planning on sticking his finger in the wind before casting his vote to see which way it’s blowing? West Virginians deserve a Senator who is going to be straight with them, but on issue after issue, Senator Manchin seems to want to have it both ways.” – Brian Walsh, NRSC Communications Director

It’s crunch time, Joe Manchin.

The West Virginia Democrat tells POLITICO he has “no clue” on how he’s going to vote on two amendments due on the Senate floor today to defund the health care reform law and Planned Parenthood.

POLITICO spoke with Manchin at about 2 p.m. — just a few hours before the Senate is slated to vote.

Manchin, who is due to face voters in 2012, is considered one of the most likely swing votes on today’s amendments, both of which are expected to fail.

Manchin has been a vocal opponent of some pieces of the health law and was a lead co-sponsor of the 1099 repeal bill. But he’s repeatedly said the law should be given a chance to work.
