New Mexico Has Lost Over 12,000 Jobs Since The Bill Was Passed
When Martin Heinrich (D-NM) and his tax-and-spend friends in Washington rammed through the $787 billion stimulus, he promised it would ‘create or save’ 3.5 million jobs and approximately 22,000 of these jobs would be in New Mexico. The fact is after 28 months since the stimulus was passed, nearly 1.9 million fewer Americans are employed and New Mexico has lost over 12,000 jobs.
As CNSNews reports:
Twenty-eight months after Congress passed President Obama’s signature economic stimulus law, and nearly one year after he declared the summer of 2010 to be “Recovery Summer,” 1.9 million fewer people are employed. In February 2009, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that 141.7 million people were employed. By the end of May 2011 – the last month for which data are available – that number had fallen to 139.8 million, a difference of 1.9 million.
“When Martin Heinrich, Hector Balderas and their liberal allies rammed their $787 billion stimulus into law they promised it would ‘create or save’ 3.5 million jobs, but today there are 1.9 million fewer Americans employed” said National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spokesman Jahan Wilcox. “New Mexicans deserve to know why Heinrich blew their money on this massive spending project that failed to get our country and more importantly the state of New Mexico back to work.”

CONGRESSMAN MARTIN HEINRICH: “Congressmen Martin Heinrich, Harry Teague and Ben Ray Luján voted today to get our economy back on track. The New Mexico delegation joined together to vote in favor of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which will provide significant relief for New Mexico, as part of a broader effort to save and create jobs and rebuild the economy. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act could create or save 22,000 jobs in New Mexico, including 7,700 in the First Congressional District, 7,100 in the Second Congressional District, and 7,500 in the Third Congressional District.” (Martin Heinrich, New Mexico Delegation Supports American Recovery and Reinvestment Act that Could Create 22,000 Jobs in New Mexico, Press Release, 02/13/09)
