Continues To Stand By Lewd New York Rep?
As she continues to posture herself on a wide variety of issues during this divisive Democrat U.S. Senate primary, liberal U.S. Representative Shelley Berkley (D-NV) has remained conspicuously silent on the explosive controversy regarding her friend and colleague U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner’s (D-NY) lewd online behavior.
In the face of Republican calls for Weiner’s resignation, Berkley’s fellow House Democrats Betty Sutton (D-OH) and Tim Walz (D-MN) dumped thousands of dollars in campaign cash they took from Weiner, and former DNC Chairman Tim Kaine is now calling for Weiner’s resignation. But neither Berkley nor her primary opponent Byron Georgiou (D-NV) have told Nevadans where they stand.
“As her fellow Washington Democrats call for Anthony Weiner’s resignation in the wake of these disturbing admissions, why does Shelley Berkley still refuse to tell Nevadans where she stands?” asked National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spokesman Jahan Wilcox. “Does Berkley continue to stand by her scandal-plagued Democrat colleague, or will she join the growing chorus on both sides of the aisle for Weiner to step down?”
