As Fellow Democrats & Republicans Call For Weiner’s Resignation, Manchin Remains Silent

Continues To Stand By Lewd New York Rep?

As he continues to posture himself on a wide variety of issues in advance of his uphill reelection bid, liberal U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) has remained conspicuously silent on the explosive controversy regarding his Democrat colleague U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner’s (D-NY) lewd online behavior.

In the face of Republican calls for Weiner’s resignation, House Democrat Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) asked for an ethics investigation into Weiner’s behavior – after which Manchin’s fellow Democrats Betty Sutton (D-OH) and Tim Walz (D-MN) dumped thousands of dollars in campaign cash they took from Weiner.  And reports today show that even former DNC Chairman Tim Kaine is now calling for Weiner’s resignation.  But Manchin has yet to tell West Virginians where he stands.

“As his fellow Washington Democrats call for Anthony Weiner’s resignation in the wake of these disturbing admissions, why does Joe Manchin still refuse to tell voters where he stands?” asked National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spokesman Chris Bond.  “Does Manchin continue to stand by his scandal-plagued Democrat colleague, or will he join the growing chorus on both sides of the aisle calling for Weiner to step down?”
