Joins Who’s Who Of Washington Liberals To Demand Business As Usual

In a letter to President Barack Obama, U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) reaffirmed her standing with the liberal wing of the Democrat party in Washington by expressing her strong opposition to capping the federal government’s runaway spending, which has now driven our national debt to a record-high $14.3 trillion.

Stabenow’s letter to President Obama, also signed by liberal Senators Barbara Boxer (D-CA) and Chuck Schumer (D-NY), among others, clearly states that Stabenow and her fellow Senate liberals “strongly oppose emerging proposals to arbitrarily cap total federal spending.”

Since promising as a Senate candidate in 2000 to support a balanced budget in Washington, Stabenow’s big-spending record has consistently contradicted her election-cycle lip service to fiscal responsibility – with the latest example being that it has now been 772 days since Stabenow and the Senate Democrats performed their most basic duty and passed any budget, much less a balanced budget.

“The most remarkable thing about Senator Stabenow’s decision to come out against capping government spending is that she’s finally admitting that she never had any intention of keeping her many promises about bringing fiscal responsibility to Washington,” said National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spokesman Jahan Wilcox.
