After Promising To Return To Montana “Every Weekend,” Self-Styled Dirt Farmer Instead Jets To New York City For Swanky Trial Lawyer Convention

As a candidate for U.S. Senate in 2006, Democrat Jon Tester presented himself as a different sort of politician and promised Montanans he would “be back in this state every weekend” because “they need the greatest representation, not encumbered by high-dollar lobbyists.”

Boy, what a difference five years makes…

Facing an uphill reelection battle after rubberstamping President Barack Obama’s liberal Washington agenda, Tester has been returning to his political roots by raising campaign cash from big-city liberals in places like Nancy Pelosi’s hometown of San Francisco – where one member of Tester’s left-wing fundraising base showed her concern for Montana issues by exclaiming “[s]omehow the crowd got into this discussion on wolves, which is apparently a thing.”

Now Politico reports that, to borrow a phrase from Frank Sinatra, Tester’s “vagabond shoes are longing to stray” to a swanky New York City trial lawyers convention, where the self-styled dirt farmer from Big Sandy filled his campaign coffers on Sunday with contributions from folks whose concern for middle-class Montanans can be gauged by their attention to pressing topics such as “Hormone Therapy Litigation,” “Breast Implant Litigation,” “Toning Shoe Litigation,” suing vacation resorts, and “Maximizing the Settlement for Attorney and Plaintiff,” among other gems.

“After rubber-stamping President Obama’s liberal agenda, it’s no surprise that Senator Tester is reaping his reward from the Washington lobbyists and left-wing donors in San Francisco and New York City,” said National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spokesman Chris Bond.  “But no amount of special-interest campaign cash is going to make Montanans forget that Tester is not the Senator he promised to be, because he routinely puts President Obama’s liberal agenda ahead of their best interests.”
