More Empty Rhetoric From Obama & Berkley As Jobless Claims Rise Again

Dangerous Déjà Vu In 30th Consecutive Month Of 8%+ Unemployment

As she helped President Barack Obama ram the $787 billion stimulus into law, Las Vegas Congresswoman Shelley Berkley claimed it would create jobs and help get our economy back on track, while her friends in the Obama Administration projected the spending binge would hold unemployment below 8 percent.

But instead, our country has lost 2.4 million jobs since President Obama came into office, while unemployment stands at 9.1 percent and has been above 8 percent for 30 consecutive months.  And today, Bloomberg reports that jobless claims continue to rise:

More Americans than forecast filed applications for unemployment benefits last week, signaling the labor market is struggling two years into the economic recovery. Jobless claims climbed by 9,000 to 408,000 in the week ended Aug. 13, the highest in a month, Labor Department figures showed today in Washington. Economists surveyed by Bloomberg News projected a rise in claims to 400,000, according to the median forecast.

Meanwhile, headlines today reveal that Berkley, Obama and their fellow Washington Democrats have nothing to offer Americans but more of the same empty rhetoric they have been spouting for the last two years:

Now…

Washington Post, August 18, 2011: “President Plans Address On Ideas For Job Creation And Deficit Reduction”

Las Vegas Review-Journal, August 16, 2011: “Berkley Begins Voyage For Job.”

Then…

Washington Post, December 8, 2009: “Obama Preparing New Push To Add Jobs, Tackle Deficit.”

Berkley’s Press Release, January 28, 2009:  “Broad Stimulus Package Will Create New Jobs, Deliver Needed Help For Families”

“As jobless claims rise yet again, it’s clear that Shelley Berkley, Harry Reid and Barack Obama have absolutely nothing to offer Nevadans suffering in the wake of their failed $787 billion stimulus,” said National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spokesman Jahan Wilcox.  “Rather than simply admitting their failure to create jobs while driving our debt to $14.5 trillion, and changing course, Obama and Berkley continue to spout the same empty rhetoric as they push for more deficit spending and more job-killing tax hikes.”
