Dangerous Déjà Vu In 30th Consecutive Month Of 8%+ Unemployment
As he cheered his fellow Washington Democrats for ramming President Barack Obama’s $787 billion stimulus into law, former DNC Chairman Tim Kaine claimed it would create jobs and help get our economy back on track, while his friends in the Obama Administration projected the spending binge would hold unemployment below 8 percent.
But instead, our country has lost 2.4 million jobs since President Obama came into office, while unemployment stands at 9.1 percent and has been above 8 percent for 30 consecutive months. And today, Bloomberg reports that jobless claims continue to rise:
More Americans than forecast filed applications for unemployment benefits last week, signaling the labor market is struggling two years into the economic recovery. Jobless claims climbed by 9,000 to 408,000 in the week ended Aug. 13, the highest in a month, Labor Department figures showed today in Washington. Economists surveyed by Bloomberg News projected a rise in claims to 400,000, according to the median forecast.
Meanwhile, headlines reveal that Kaine, Obama, and their fellow Washington Democrats have nothing to offer Americans but more of the same empty rhetoric they have been spouting for the last two years:
Now…
Washington Post, August 18, 2011: “President Plans Address On Ideas For Job Creation And Deficit Reduction”
Kaine Press Release, August 5, 2011: “Now Is The Time To Focus On Policies That Create Jobs For All Americans.”
Then…
Washington Post, December 8, 2009: “Obama Preparing New Push To Add Jobs, Tackle Deficit.”
MSNBC’s “1600 Pennsylvania Avenue,” February 6, 2009: KAINE: “This Bill Is What’s Needed To Put Americans Back To Work.”
“As jobless claims rise yet again, it’s clear that Tim Kaine and President Obama have absolutely nothing to offer Virginians suffering in the wake of their failed $787 billion stimulus,” said National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spokesman Chris Bond. “Rather than simply admitting their failure to create the jobs they promised while driving our debt to $14.5 trillion, and changing course, Obama and Kaine continue to spout the same empty rhetoric as they push for more deficit spending and more job-killing tax hikes.”
