$787 Billion Stimulus Debacle Failed To Create Promised Jobs
It’s been nearly two-and-a-half years since U.S. Senator Jon Tester (D-MT) and President Barack Obama rammed their $787 billion stimulus into law, promising it would create jobs and projecting it would hold national unemployment below 8 percent. But today, national unemployment stands at 9.2 percent, and has remained above 8 percent for 29 consecutive months. Still, Tester praises the stimulus, which he claimed would “really put people back to work.”
It’s also been more than a year-and-a-half since Americans read headlines like “White House Plans ‘Very Hard Pivot To Jobs’ Next Month.” But today, with headlines still reading “DEMS PLAN PIVOT TO JOBS,” CNN reports that “jobs recovery slowed for a third month in a row.” Still, rather than acknowledge that his policies have failed to create the jobs he promised while driving our national debt past $14.3 trillion, Tester is standing with President Obama in demanding that Montanans foot the bill for their Washington spending spree with job-killing tax hikes.
Today, a full year since Washington Democrats declared “Welcome To The Recovery,” the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) is launching a new web video highlighting Tester and the Democrats’ broken promises and failed economic policies.

“Montana families and job creators can see very clearly that Jon Tester’s $787 billion stimulus failed to create the jobs he promised while driving our national debt past $14.3 trillion, but Tester still claims his stimulus spending spree was successful,” said NRSC spokesman Chris Bond. “At the ballot box next year, Montanans are going to hold Tester and President Obama accountable for their broken promises and failed tax-and-spend agenda.”
