Obama’s Springfield “Jaunt” Reminds Voters Of Kaine’s Calls For Job-Killing Tax Hikes

Doubles Down On Tax-Spend-&-Borrow Policies In Wake Of Costly, Failed Stimulus

As USA Today reports that President Barack Obama will take a “short jaunt” to Springfield, Virginia on Tuesday, voters are once again reminded that Obama and his #1 Cheerleader in Washington, Tim Kaine, continue to demand job-killing tax hikes in the wake of their costly, failed economic policies.

As DNC Chairman for the past several years, Kaine fully embraced President Obama’s tax-spend-and-borrow agenda, calling Obama’s failed $787 billion stimulus “one of the first flagstones on the road to recovery,” and promising it would “create or save more than 3 million jobs” while his friends in the Obama Administration projected the deficit-spending spree would hold unemployment below 8 percent.

Given the facts that, while our national debt has skyrocketed past its $14.3 trillion limit, our country has instead lost 2.4 million jobs since President Obama came into office and is now in its 30th consecutive month with higher-than-8-percent unemployment, one might expect Kaine to change his tune and urge a more responsible fiscal course in Washington.

But instead, Kaine is doubling down on his support for higher taxes on Virginia families and job-creators, complaining of the “continuing resistance of congressional Republicans to entertain” Democrat calls for new tax hikes, and even promoting a petition to raise taxes on his campaign website.

Meanwhile, the Richmond Times-Dispatch editorial board noted yesterday that, according to Harvard economists, “the record shows that economies do better when governments close shortfalls by reducing spending rather than raising revenue.”

“Tim Kaine still thinks it was smart for Washington to spend $787 billion in order to lose 2.4 million jobs, so it’s no surprise that he also thinks it’s a good idea to slam Virginians with job-killing tax hikes in the midst of this bad economy,” said National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spokesman Chris Bond.  “Virginians know that if they send Kaine to Washington, they and their families will wind up footing the bill for even more reckless deficit-spending for generations to come.”
