As DNC Chairman in Washington for the past several years, Tim Kaine served as the number-one cheerleader for President Obama and the Democrats’ tax-spend-and-borrow economic agenda.

And now – even as he attempts to distract Virginians from his failed Washington agenda in advance of next year’s U.S. Senate election – Kaine is all too happy to reap the rewards of his partisan Washington water-carrying on Obama’s behalf, lining his campaign coffers with cash from Obama’s liberal elitist donor base.

As the Chicago Sun Times notes:

With so much pocketbook power in Chicago, Virginia Senate candidate Tim Kaine–well known to the Obama bundlers because he is a former DNC chairman–will hold a fund-raiser himself Thursday evening at the downtown Smith & Wollensky to tap into the Obama donor base. Among the Chicago Obama bundlers on the Kaine host committee for the Thursday event are John Atkinson, Wally Brewster, Steve Cohen, Les Coney, Vicki Heyman, Laura Ricketts, Bob Satawake and Grace Tsao-Wu. Kaine has another fund-raiser at the East Bank Club on Thursday morning.

It’s not clear exactly who else Kaine will be taking checks from while in Obama’s hometown, but notably, just days after declaring that “[w]e need a job creation strategy,” Kaine’s ritzy Thursday-night fundraiser comes at the same time as President Obama addresses the nation to once again call for a reported $300 billion in new so-called “stimulus” spending.

The timing of Kaine’s ObamaLand fundraiser reminds voters that Kaine spent the last two-and-a-half years not complaining about the lack of a “job creation strategy,” but schilling for the Democrats’ original $787 billion stimulus, and praising Obama for what he called an “unrelenting focus on economic recovery.”  Kaine and Obama claimed their first round of “stimulus” spending would create millions of jobs and the Obama Administration projected that it would hold unemployment below 8 percent.  But instead, the United States has lost 2.4 million jobs since Obama took office, and the country is in its 31^st consecutive month of above-8-percent unemployment.

“Just like when he was DNC Chairman, Tim Kaine is running around the country raising campaign cash from President Obama’s elite liberal donors.  The irony is that now, instead of just being Obama’s DNC bag man, Kaine is raising cash from these wealthy Obama supporters so he can spend it trying to distract Virginia voters from his time as the Washington Democrats’ number-one cheerleader,” said National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spokesman Chris Bond.

In recent weeks, though he has failed to articulate a new plan of his own to create jobs, Kaine has tapped his left-wing DNC donor base with activities such as a Yankees game with left-wing New York Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY), and celebrated President Obama’s fiftieth birthday with the likes of Al Sharpton, Nancy Pelosi, Jay-Z and Charles Barkley at what ABC News dubbed a “star-studded” White House party on the same day the stock market tanked by more than 500 points.
