Loyal Obama Ally Tries To Rewrite History In Advance Of Re-election Bid
As he faces an uphill re-election battle after rubber-stamping President Barack Obama’s liberal agenda in Washington – including providing the crucial 60th vote for ObamaCare – Senator Jon Tester (D-MT) is engaging in a disturbing pattern of revisionist history.
Two prime examples of Tester’s habit of attempting to mislead Montana voters came during an interview Friday with KGVO’s Janette McDonald, when he implied that the Obama presidency has been good for Second Amendment rights, and asserted that he is not heavily involved with Washington lobbyists…
“Not only is Jon Tester a rubber stamp for Barack Obama in Washington, now he is being blatantly misleading about it. Tester is not telling the truth about the anti-gun liberal activist judges he gave lifetime appointments to the Supreme Court, and he’s not being honest about the fact that he has personally taken more lobbyist campaign cash than any other politician in the entire country,” said National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spokesman Chris Bond. “Montanans are not going to be fooled by Jon Tester’s dishonest revisionist history.”
FACT-CHECKING TESTER’S LATEST WILD CLAIMS…
- “Our Gun Rights Are Stronger Now Than They Were When Obama Got Into Office.” – Jon Tester, Interview, KVGO, September 2, 2011
THE TRUTH…
- If this is true, it is thanks to conservative Supreme Court judges, not thanks to Jon Tester and Barack Obama. Tester voted to a grant a lifetime Supreme Court appointment to Obama’s hand-picked anti-gun liberal activist judge Sonia Sotomayor, who is of the opinion that “the Framers did not write the Second Amendment in order to protect a private right of armed self defense” and “I can find nothing in the Second Amendment’s text, history, or underlying rationale that could warrant characterizing it as ‘fundamental’ insofar as it seeks to protect the keeping and bearing of arms for private self-defense purposes.”
TESTER CLAIM…
- “Folks Ask Me Regularly, You Know, I Bet Back There You Just Get Pounded By Lobbyists. I Don’t.” – Jon Tester, Interview, KVGO, September 2, 2011
THE TRUTH…
- Jon Tester has taken more lobbyist campaign cash than anyone – out of all 535 members of Congress – in the entire nation during the 2012 election cycle. This is the very same Jon Tester who rode into office on a high horse, declaring that Montanans “need the greatest representation, not encumbered by high-dollared lobbyists” and “I won’t sell Montana down the road by cutting deals with K Street lobbyists…”
