More Evidence Of Debbie Stabenow’s Failed Big Government, Tax-And-Spend Agenda

For The 4th Straight Month Michigan’s Unemployment Rate Has Gone Up And Is Now At 11.2%

Earlier today, the Department of Labor reported that Michigan’s unemployment rate risen from 10.9 to 11.2 percent.  This is the fourth straight month Michigan’s unemployment rate has gone up and since March over 52,000 Michiganders have lost their jobs.

As MLive reports:

Michigan’s unemployment rate continues to rise with the seasonally adjusted rate increasing in August to 11.2 percent, compared to 10.9 percent in July, according to data released today by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget.  There are 52,000 fewer people employed in the state than there were in March.  Total employment in the state fell by 21,000 in August, while the number of unemployed people rose by 15,000. Overall, there were 7,000 fewer people working in August, sending the state’s unemployment rate up 2 percentage points above the nationwide rate of 9.1 percent in August.

“Today’s jobs report is just another painful reminder of the failed economic policies of Debbie Stabenow, because instead of supporting pro-growth, pro-jobs legislation Stabenow has voted for job-killing initiatives like the failed $787 billion stimulus and government-run healthcare,” said National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spokesman Jahan Wilcox.  Next fall, Michiganders will judge Stabenow’s failed economic record – which includes 49 straight months of the highest unemployment rate in the country – and we can only hope they replace Stabenow with a person who will create an economic environment that will get the Wolverine State working once again.”
