For The 3rd Straight Month Ohio’s Unemployment Rate Has Gone Up And Is Now At 9.1%
Earlier today, the Department of Labor reported that Ohio’s unemployment rate has risen from 9.0 to 9.1 percent and there are now 536,000 unemployed Ohioans. This is the third straight month Ohio’s unemployment rate has gone up.
As the Associated Press reports:
Ohio matched the U.S. unemployment rate in August as joblessness rose in the state for the third month in a row, officials said Friday. Unemployment edged up in Ohio to 9.1 percent last month, from 9.0 percent in July, the Department of Job and Family Services said. The U.S. Department of Labor reported that the nation’s jobless rate held at 9.1 percent during August. … Last month, 536,000 workers were unemployed in Ohio, up from 529,000 in July, officials said.
“Today’s jobs report is just another painful reminder of the failed economic policies of Barack Obama and his left-hand man Sherrod Brown, because instead of supporting pro-growth, pro-jobs legislation Brown has voted for job-killing initiatives like the failed $787 billion stimulus and government-run healthcare,” said National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spokesman Jahan Wilcox. “With 536,000 unemployed Ohioans, it’s clear the Buckeye State cannot afford the big government, tax-and-spend agenda of Sherrod Brown.”
