Biden To Join Senate Democrats On Capitol Hill Today & Rally For Yet Another Stimulus Bill That Will “Jumpstart” Michigan’s Economy

Just 24 hours after telling an audience in Pennsylvania yesterday that he wished those who oppose President Obama’s latest stimulus proposal knew “what it was like” to be raped and robbed, while acknowledging that this was all a campaign-driven effort by the Administration, Vice-President Joe Biden will lead a rally with Senate Democrats on Capitol Hill today in support of their latest spending proposal.

It remains to be seen whether the Vice-President will repeat his view on the Tea Party that labor unions “are the only one keeping the barbarians at the gate,” or his economic theory that the only way for the federal government to prevent bankruptcy is to spend more money, but Biden’s presence serves as a reminder to voters in Michigan of what both he and Senator Debbie Stabenow promised after ramming through their first $825 billion stimulus more than two years ago.

“It’s fitting that Vice-President Biden will be joining Senate Democrats like Debbie Stabenow on Capitol Hill today because they are some of the only folks in America who actually believe their first $825 billion stimulus was a success story,” National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spokesman Jahan Wilcox said today. “The debunked rhetoric and failed economic policies of Debbie Stabenow have been rejected by taxpayers across the country, and next year the voters of Michigan will have an opportunity to make their voices heard even louder at the ballot box.”

FLASHBACK….

Stabenow Said The “Stimulus” Made “Significant Investments… So That The Jobs Are Here.” STABENOW: “We have significant investments that move us in that direction that not only make sure we are growing fuels and that we are operating in a more efficient manner, but that we are building the green technologies here so that the jobs are here in America.” (Senator Debbie Stabenow, Congressional Record, 2/3/09, p. S1386)

Vice President Joe Biden On February 17, 2009:  “Starting Today” The Administration Will Be Working To “Create Immediate Jobs.”  “Starting today, our administration will be working day and night to provide more aid for the unemployed, create immediate jobs, building our roads and our bridges, make long-term investments in a smarter energy grid, and so much more.” (Vice President Biden, “Remarks By The President And Vice President At Signing Of The American Recovery And Reinvestment Act,” Denver, CO, 2/17/09)

Biden Predicted In “18 Months” Stimulus Will “Create 3.5 Million Jobs …Literally Drop-Kicks Us Out Of This Recession.” “This is a monumental project, but I think it’s doable. But I just think we got to stay on top (inaudible) and we got to stay on top of that on a weekly basis. Because this is about getting this out and spent in 18 months to create 3.5 million jobs and do — to set — tee this up so the rest of the good work that’s being done here literally drop-kicks us out of this recession and we begin to grow again and begin to employ people again.” (Vice President Biden, Remarks At Recovery Plan Implementation Meeting, Washington D.C., 2/25/09)

Biden Called The Stimulus An “Absolute Success.” “An absolute success,’ Biden termed the stimulus during an interview on ‘Charlie Rose’ to air Wednesday evening. ‘We will create over 3.5 million or save over 3.5 million jobs before this is over.’(Michael O’Brien, “Stimulus ‘An Absolute Success,’ Says Biden,” The Hill’s Blog Briefing Room” 6/2/10)
