With The President Coming To Las Vegas Will Shelley Berkley Embrace His Call For Another $450 Billion Stimulus

Democrats Became So Desperate During The Last Stimulus That They Falsely Claimed It Saved Teaching Jobs At Ronzone Elementary School In Las Vegas

Next Monday, President Barack Obama is expected to visit Las Vegas where he is likely to stump for another $450 billion stimulus, which has been introduced by none other than Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.

While Berkley has refused to tell Nevadans if she will support this new round of spending, she did promise that the first stimulus would ‘create or save’ 34,000 Nevada jobs.  Then when it became apparent that the Democrats would fall short of that goal, her strongest supporter Harry Reid tried to increase the number of jobs “saved” by this massive spending experiment by falsely claiming that the legislation “saved” teaching jobs at Ronzone Elementary School, but that school never received any stimulus money.

Since the first $825 billion stimulus was signed into law Nevada’s unemployment rate has risen by over 20 percent and Nevadans deserve to know if Shelley Berkley will continue to rubberstamp the same failed economic policies of Barack Obama, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi.

“When Shelley Berkley rubberstamped Barack Obama’s first $825 billion stimulus into law she promised it would ‘create or save’ 34,000 jobs, but since that bill was signed into law Nevada has lost nearly 70,000 jobs,” said National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spokesman Jahan Wilcox.  “With an unemployment rate of 13.4 percent, Nevadans deserve to know if Shelley Berkley is going to continue supporting the same failed economic policies that has helped make Nevada the unemployment capital of the country.”

BACKGROUND

Berkley Promised That Her First $825 Billion Stimulus Would ‘Create Or Save’ 34,000 Nevada Jobs

SHELLEY BERKLEY:  “From incentives to increase clean energy production to funding for work on I-15 and the Las Vegas Beltway, this [stimulus] package will mean jobs for Nevada at a time when we continue to face record unemployment levels,” said Berkley. “According to the White House, passage of this legislation will create or save 34,000 jobs statewide, with the majority of those in Clark County.”  (Shelley Berkley, Berkley: Report Shows Broad Economic Recovery Package Will Mean More Nevada Jobs, Press Release, 02/12/09)
