After Claiming The First $825 Billion Stimulus Would Be Spent On Infrastructure Projects, Berkley & Reid Want A Mulligan

In 2009, liberal United States Congresswoman Shelley Berkley told Nevadans that she would be supporting Barack Obama’s $825 billion stimulus, because it would help repair America’s aging roads and bridges.

After the bill passed the House of Representatives it was revealed that only 5 percent of the so-called stimulus was spent on infrastructure.  It was then revealed that billions of dollars were given to tax cheats and millions of dollars were spent in fictitious congressional districts like a $753,000 project in Nevada’s 22nd Congressional District.

Now that it’s been widely accepted that the first $825 billion stimulus was a boondoggle that never ‘saved or created’ 34,000 Nevada jobs, Shelley Berkley and her liberal mentor Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid are now asking for a do-over.

As The Hill reports:

President Obama’s proposal to create a national infrastructure bank and spend $50 billion on transportation to stimulate job growth will be up for a vote in the Senate this week. … The president incorporated it into his proposal for a $447 billion jobs act, which the Senate is now voting on in pieces after its rejection as a package.

“Shelley Berkley said that the first $825 billion stimulus would be used on infrastructure projects, but rather than explaining what went wrong, she wants another $50 billion in government stimulus so she and Obama can have a mulligan.  With our country’s debt at nearly $15 trillion, Nevada simply cannot afford the job-killing, tax-and-spend experiments of Shelley Berkley, Harry Reid and Barack Obama.” Jahan Wilcox, NRSC Spokesman

Berkley Claimed The Stimulus Would Improve I-15 And The Las Vegas Beltway. “‘From incentives to increase clean energy production to funding for work on I-15 and the Las Vegas Beltway, this package will mean jobs for Nevada at a time when we continue to face record unemployment levels,’ said Berkley. ‘According to the White House, passage of this legislation will create or save 34,000 jobs statewide, with the majority of those in Clark County.’” (“Rep.
