1,000 Days Since Bill Nelson Has Passed A Budget

It’s Been 1,000 Days Since Nelson & His Democrat Colleagues Have Passed A Budget

It’s been 1,000 days since liberal United States Senator Bill Nelson and his Democrat colleagues who control the Senate have passed a budget and today the National Republican Senatorial Committee has unveiled a new web video reminding Floridians that Nelson has failed to perform the most basic function of a U.S. Senator.

Additionally, the web ad highlights the fact that during his U.S. Senate campaign in 2006, Nelson campaigned against the reckless spending in Washington and expressed a strong commitment to restoring fiscal discipline to our country, which he has failed to uphold.

Notably, it only took 410 days to build the Empire State Building, yet Nelson still needs more time to pass a budget that will rein in his reckless spending habits that are bankrupting our country.

“It’s simply remarkable that it took less time to build the Empire State Building than it has for Bill Nelson to pass a budget that will rein in his reckless spending habits,” said National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spokesman Jahan Wilcox.  “With our national debt at $15.2 trillion, Floridians need a Senator who will actually do their job and pass a budget to help restore our country’s fiscal house.”

NELSON: “But What We Ought To Do Is We Ought To Have A Pay-As-You-Go Policy, That If You Want To Pay For Something, And You Want To Spend The Money For This, You’re Going To Have To Identify A Revenue Source To Pay For It. And That’s The Only Thing That’s Going To Get Us Out Of This Mess That We’re In.”  (November 1, 2006 debate, http://www.c-spanvideo.org/program/FloridaSenateDeba)
