Three Years Ago Today The Obama-Casey $825 Billion Stimulus Became Law

NRSC Launches New Video Highlighting The Failed Promises & Economic Agenda Of Washington Democrats

Three years ago today, despite an already skyrocketing federal debt, President Barack Obama – with the help of liberal U.S. Senator Bob Casey – rammed their $825 billion stimulus spending bill into law promising Americans that it would create millions of news jobs

In fact, Casey promised the stimulus would get our economy out of the ditch and create jobs, but since the legislation was signed into law, Pennsylvania has lost over 111,000 jobs because the Obama Administration was determined to spend their way out of this economic crisis instead of targeting the legislation to assist small business owners who are the true job creators of this country.

Notably, the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) released a report just yesterday that found that the rate of unemployment in the United States has exceeded 8 percent since February 2009, making the past three years the longest stretch of high unemployment in this country since the Great Depression.  Additionally they project that the unemployment rate will remain above 8 percent until 2014, which is again contrary to the promises of Obama and Casey.

“After three years, it’s become abundantly clear that the Obama-Casey stimulus, which spent billions of dollars growing the size of government instead of helping small business owners create jobs, was an utter failure, said National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spokesman Lance Trover.  “With 485,000 unemployed Pennsylvanians, the Keystone State deserves better than the tax-and-spend, big government policies of liberals Barack Obama and Bob Casey.”

Which Casey Promised Would Get the Economy Out of the Ditch & Create Jobs

Casey Told Business Leaders In Pennsylvania That The Stimulus Would Help Get The Economy Out Of The Ditch, Create Jobs, And Help Those Who Suffered The Most From The Recession. “Mr. Casey, a Democrat, told about 165 business leaders who attended a breakfast hosted by the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Business and Industry at the Woodlands Inn and Resort that the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act will help get the economy out of the ditch, create jobs and aid those hardest hit by the recession. He said the act is good news for Northeast Pennsylvania, the entire state and country.” (Denise Allabaugh, “Stimulus Plan Defended,” The Times-Tribune, 3/17/09)
