41 Straight Months Of High Unemployment, Yet McCaskill Stands By Democrats’ Reckless Spending Agenda
Over three years ago, liberal Democrat Claire McCaskill was one of the most outspoken advocates in Washington in support of a massive “stimulus” spending bill that she flatly predicted would put thousands of Missourians back to work.
At the same time, McCaskill was rallying her liberal friends to support the massive health care law which the Supreme Court confirmed last week represents a massive tax hike on Missouri families and small businesses. In fact, just this past week, McCaskill doubled-down on her support for ObamaCare even though it contains 20 new or higher taxes on Missouri families and small businesses at the very same time they’re working to get back on their feet.
Yet, since the Democrats have run Washington over the last four years, our country has actually lost over 400,000 jobs, and today marks the 41st straight month that the national unemployment rate has remained above 8 percent.
In fact, the June unemployment report shows the worst quarter of job creation in two years.
As CNBC reports:
CNBC’s John Harwood: “Not Good News For The American Economy”
“Between last week’s Supreme Court decision and today’s jobs report, it’s a sobering reminder that at a time when Senator McCaskill and the Democrats should have been focused on jobs, they focused instead on a massive middle class tax hike and reckless government spending programs,” National Republican Senatorial Committee spokesman Jahan Wilcox said today. “McCaskill’s rosy rhetoric that President Obama’s spending policies will actually help the Missouri economy is just a reminder how out-of-touch she is with reality.”

VERSUS….
Liberal Claire McCaskill’s Rosy Rhetoric….
- “After Eight Years Of Recklessness During The Bush Administration Helped Create The Single Worst Economic Crisis In Generations, Claire Has Worked Hard To Stabilize The Economy And Bring Jobs To Missouri.” (Claire McCaskill For U.S. Senate, www.clairemccaskill.com, Accessed 6/25/12)
- In 2008, McCaskill Said Democrats “Knew How To Create Jobs.” McCaskill: “They both reflect a time in our country when Democrats were in charge and we knew how to save money. We knew how to run a budget. We knew how to create jobs. I think it’s great to give a tip of our hat. We think the world of the Clintons and the leadership they’ve provided in this country. And I know the Obamas feel the same way.” (MSNBC, 8/26/08)
- McCaskill: “On The Other Hand, Barack Obama Has Been Consistent. This Has Been About Strengthening The Middle Class . . . And Creating Jobs.” (Fox News’ “Your World With Neil Cavuto,” 10/15/08)
- McCaskill: The Stimulus Is A “Way Of Injecting This Money Into The Economy To Put People Back To Work.” “Well, what has happened is, because there’s such uncertainty and lack of confidence in the market, there’s this retraction. That’s what a recession is. What does this does, it puts money into the economy. It causes growth in businesses. If a business goes to a bank and says, hey, I just got a contract to build this building for the federal government, that bank is going to look at that loan application in a whole different light than they would today, without that kind of stimulative effect. So this is, in fact, a way of injecting this money into the economy to put people back to work. That — it is just that simple.” (MSNBC’s “Hardball,” 2/3/09)
- When Asked If There Was A “Conceptual Area” In Which Obama Was Wrong, McCaskill Said “We Did The Stimulus. We Did — We Did What Has Been, By The Way, Wildly Successful, The TARP.” WALLACE: “I mean, beyond these specific issues, is there a conceptual area in which you think this president is wrong?” MCCASKILL: “Well, I think that there have been — I think, frankly, there has been not enough focus in terms of the job creation at a point in time — we did the stimulus. We did — we did what has been, by the way, wildly successful, the TARP. And especially look what’s happened with General Motors. We saved ‘made in America’ for domestic auto production. We saved thousands of jobs. We saved entire communities . . .” WALLACE: “Yeah, but my question is where has he been . . .” MCCASKILL: “. . . because of what we did with General Motors.” (Fox News’ “Fox News Sunday,” 11/28/10)
