Democrat Richard Carmona Doubles-Down On ObamaCare

Carmona Refuses To Support A Repeal Of His Recruiter’s Job-Killing Healthcare Law

WASHINGTON – Less than 48 hours since he secured the Democrat nomination for U.S. Senate – thanks in large part to the fact that he was the only candidate personally recruited by President Barack Obama – Richard Carmona reaffirmed his support for ObamaCare.

According to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO), President Obama and Richard Carmona’s healthcare law cuts $700 billion from Medicare and raises taxes on small businesses by $800 billion.  Additionally, the Wall Street Journal has reported that the healthcare law is the largest tax increase ever on middle-class families in Arizona and across the country.

Notably, Carmona recently said Mr. Obama was “brave” for ramming his job-killing healthcare bill through Washington.

“After being recruited by President Obama, it should come as no surprise that Democrat Richard Carmona refuses to repeal the job-killing healthcare law,” said National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spokesman Jahan Wilcox.  “Given that Mr. Obama and Carmona’s healthcare law is the largest tax increase ever on middle-class families, Arizonans deserve a Senator – like Jeff Flake – who will repeal this costly law.”

WALL STREET JOURNAL:  “It is now undeniable that Mr. Obama has imposed the largest tax increase in history on the middle class. Individuals who don’t buy insurance will have to pay several hundred dollars, depending on income. The Congressional Budget Office says that 76% of those who pay the mandate tax will make less than 500% of the federal poverty level, estimated to be $24,000 for a family of four in 2016. That means 76% of the payers will earn less than $120,000 a year.” (Editorial, “It’s Up To The Voters Now,” The Wall Street Journal, 6/28/12)
