The same polls have shown Reid to be widely unpopular among Silver State voters. The latest Mason-Dixon survey for the Las Vegas Review-Journal showed 38 percent of Nevadans saying they view the majority leader favorably, while 50 percent view him unfavorably.

Still, Reid maintained his polls show him doing better than public polls. During a press conference Thursday, Reid said “everything is going well” in his home state.

Only Tepid Support from Moderate Dems

Thu Oct 15 — 2:37pm

Moderate Democrats in the Senate are watching their words carefully concerning a commitment on the health care bill:

· Ben Nelson: Nebraska Sen. Ben Nelson said his colleague from Maine wasn’t “forecasting what her future votes might be” when she cast the lone Republican vote for the Finance bill.

· Mark Pryor: Likewise, Arkansas Sen. Mark Pryor, whose own stance on health care remains an open question, cautioned, “I think she’s been careful to say that she supports it coming out of committee, but no guarantees on final passage because it’s going to change quite a bit between now and then.”

· Evan Bayh: Sen. Evan Bayh (D., Ind.) said he wants to ensure that promised spending cuts -- such as plans to trim Medicare payments -- are locked in.

Statement on Bill White's Q3 Fundraising

Wed Oct 14 — 9:34pm

“Bill White’s fundraising diligence is exceeded only by his negligence to his current position.  The city of Houston is facing a $50 million budget shortfall, Houstonians are facing potential tax hikes, city employees are facing possible layoffs, and yet, Bill White is traveling around the country raising money while collecting a paycheck from Houston taxpayers.  Instead of spending his time worrying about a job promotion Bill White ought to focus on the job he was elected to do.” – Brian Walsh, NRSC Spokesman
