NRSC Chairman Statement On The Nevada Senate Race

U.S. Senator John Cornyn, Chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), made the following statement regarding today’s announcement by U.S. Senator John Ensign and the Nevada Senate race next year: “I thank Senator Ensign for his nearly two decades of public service. Next year’s Senate race in Nevada will now come down to a clear choice between two competing visions for our country – between a Republican candidate who believes in smaller government, fiscal responsibility and creating good, private sector jobs, and a Democrat candidate who believes in keeping our country on the same reckless fiscal path of more government and higher taxes. Republicans welcome this choice and I am confident we will successfully retain this seat as we work to win back a new Senate Republican majority.”

Swanky Nelson-Obama Fundraiser Reminds Floridians Of Who Their Senior Senator Puts First

As President Obama travels to Florida today to host a swanky fundraiser for liberal U.S. Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL), the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) is reminding Floridians of Nelson’s rubberstamp support for President Obama’s costly, big government agenda. Click Here To See A New NRSC Web Video Highlighting Nelson’s Big Spending Career in Congress As the St. Petersburg Times noted earlier this month, Nelson eagerly rubberstamped “every major initiative of Obama’s tenure,” including the failed $787 billion stimulus debacle, in the wake of which Florida suffers from 12 percent unemployment. Nelson also continues to defend ObamaCare, including its $500 billion in Medicare cuts, $570 billion in tax hikes, budget-busting Medicare spending mandates, and controversial individual mandate. Notably, it was just a few short months ago that Senator Nelson called President Obama “a serious liability for Democrats in his state and blamed the president for creating a toxic political environment…

With National Debt At $14.1 Trillion, Casey Breaks Campaign Promise, Votes Against Balanced Budget Resolution

As the Democrats’ reckless spending continues to drive federal deficits and debt to unsustainable levels, liberal U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) voted last night to oppose a bipartisan resolution in support of a balanced budget amendment, breaking a key campaign promise and proving once again that he is not serious about fiscal responsibility in Washington. As the Washington Post reports, “[a]n amendment offered by Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) that would have ‘expressed the sense of the Senate’ in support of a balanced budget amendment fell just short of passage Tuesday, but it garnered the backing of almost a dozen members of the Senate Democratic caucus…. The vote is a sign that Democrats, many of whom will face tough reelection battles in 2012, are sensitive to voters’ concerns over federal spending.” Apparently, however, Casey is not one who is sensitive to voters’ concerns – or the promises he has made to…

With National Debt At $14.1 Trillion, Menendez Votes Against Balanced Budget Resolution

As the Democrats’ reckless spending continues to drive federal deficits and debt to unsustainable levels, liberal U.S. Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ) – who remains under federal investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice – voted last night to oppose a bipartisan resolution in support of a balanced budget amendment, proving once again that he is not serious about fiscal responsibility in Washington. As the Democrats’ reckless spending continues to drive federal deficits and debt to unsustainable levels, liberal U.S. Senator Jon Tester (D-MT) voted last night to oppose a bipartisan resolution in support of a balanced budget amendment, proving once again that he is not serious about fiscal responsibility in Washington. Flip-Flop Alert — McCaskill Caught Speaking Out Of Both Sides On Social Security Reform

It’s become increasingly clear that Missouri’s senior Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO) will literally say or do anything to win re-election next year. Her policy positions change as quickly as the shifting political winds and her rhetoric depends on who her audience is on any given day. Witness Senator McCaskill’s latest flip-flop on the important issue of Social Security reform. Just four weeks ago, Senator McCaskill held a widely-covered press conference on Capitol Hill where, after previously voting for every major Obama spending initiative, she bravely announced new legislation to put in place a plan aimed at cutting government spending. This plan was, in her words, so “bold” that even her own Democrat leader, Senator Harry Reid, said that he could not support it because it would count Social Security as part of the federal budget for the first time and subject it to automatic cuts if overall spending was not…

With National Debt At $14.1 Trillion, Stabenow Votes Against Balanced Budget Resolution

Liberal Incumbent’s Opposition To Balancing Federal Budget Proves She Is Not Serious About Fiscal Responsibility As the Democrats’ reckless spending continues to drive federal deficits and debt to unsustainable levels, the U.S. Senate’s most liberal member, Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), voted last night to oppose a bipartisan resolution in support of a balanced budget amendment, proving once again that she is not serious about fiscal responsibility in Washington. NRSC Statement On The U.S. Senate Race In Hawaii

At the start of this election cycle, Senate Republicans expected to be on offense in a range of Republican-leaning states such as Montana, Missouri, and Nebraska. But the retirement of yet another longtime Democrat Senator further expands the map of takeover opportunities and further strengthens Republican hopes for a new Senate majority in 2012. With several strong candidates already looking at this race, even before Senator Akaka’s announcement, Hawaii presents an unexpected opportunity for Senate Republicans and we intend to make the most of it in 2012.

NRSC To Bill Nelson: How About Backdating Those Government Spending Receipts?

In his latest election-cycle effort to re-invent himself as a fiscal conservative, big-spending U.S. Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL) introduced legislation earlier today that would require the federal government to send taxpayers a one-page receipt detailing where their money is going — as well as how much each resident would need to pay to eliminate the national debt. As reported by the Orlando Sentinel, Nelson said in a statement today, “Taxpayers have a right to know where their money goes, how much Uncle Sam is borrowing on their behalf, and what they get in return for it.” Unfortunately – and notably – Nelson’s proposed legislation has not been in effect for the last 10 years he has represented Florida in the U.S. Senate, during which time taxpayers have watched as the national debt has skyrocketed from $5.7 trillion to over $14.1 trillion. This includes the failed $787 billion stimulus boondoggle which…
