“I congratulate Dean Heller on winning the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate. There is a clear difference in this race. Dean is a common-sense leader who believes we need to focus on pro-growth, pro-jobs policies for the Silver State. In contrast, his opponent was handpicked by Harry Reid, is mired in an ethics scandal and believes we should focus on growing government in Washington, instead of jobs in Nevada. It’s time we get Nevada and our country working again and we can do that by keeping Dean Heller in the U.S. Senate.” – U.S. Senator John Cornyn, NRSC Chairman BACKGROUND…. While we rarely agree with Senate Democrat Leader Harry Reid, we do agree with his assessment that Shelley Berkley’s “flamboyant Vegas-centric personality” will cause hemorrhaging in pivotal Washoe County. Additionally, throughout her 14-year career in the House of Representatives, Shelley Berkley has become a backbench Representative who follows Nancy Pelosi’s orders…
Kerrey Voted To Raise The Federal Gas Tax
BOB KERREY’S LONG LOVE AFFAIR WITH HIGHER TAXES Last week, Bob Kerrey’s campaign told the Lincoln Journal Star that the former Senator supports tax relief for middle class families in Nebraska, yet Kerrey’s record shows that he’s voted to raise the gas tax on Nebraskans. In 1990, Kerrey supported a budget resolution that raised the gas tax by 5 cents a gallon. Three years later, he cast the deciding vote in favor of President Clinton’s budget, which raised the federal gas tax by 4.3 cents. That’s not all; Kerrey said he would be “ashamed” if anybody complained about the gas tax hike, and said he could have supported a larger 7.7 cent per gallon tax increase. NRSC Statement & Background On Maine Senate Race
To: Interested Parties From: National Republican Senatorial Committee Re: Maine Republican Senate Primary Date: June 12, 2012 “I congratulate Charlie Summers on winning the Maine Republican Senate Primary and look forward to his election in November. Charlie is a former small businessman and a Navy Veteran who believes we must restore fiscal responsibility and finally focus on pro-jobs policies in Washington, while his two opponents are emblematic of everything that is wrong with Washington – higher taxes, increased government spending and massive government regulations on small businesses. Maine deserves a Senator like Charlie Summers who will be a real independent thinker and leader.” – U.S. Senator John Cornyn, NRSC Chairman BACKGROUND…. Since his election to the House, Rick has been working every day to bring the North Dakota way to Washington by fighting to repeal ObamaCare, cut government spending and grow our economy. NRSC Statement & Background On Virginia Senate Race
To: Interested Parties From: National Republican Senatorial Committee Re: Virginia Republican Senate Primary Date: June 12, 2012 “I congratulate George Allen on winning the Republican nomination and look forward to Virginians electing this experienced leader in November. “The Virginia Senate race will be one of the most important battlegrounds this Fall, and voters will have a clear choice between two competing visions for the future of the Commonwealth and our country. George Allen represents a common-sense path forward for Virginia by focusing on job growth, energy independence and a balanced budget, while his opponent former DNC Chairman Tim Kaine represents the status quo of higher taxes, bigger government, and more wasteful, Washington spending. “Virginians deserve a Senator who will put their views and values ahead of blind partisanship and party loyalty, and that is why I am confident they will elect George Allen in November.” – U.S….
Baldwin Plays Politics As Students Struggle
Republicans Offer Solutions While Baldwin & Obama Stonewall Liberal Madison Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin is embarking on a phony tour of Wisconsin pointing fingers at Republicans for rising student loan interest rates when it is she and her fellow Democrats who are stonewalling progress on the issue. According to The Hill Baldwin is beginning a tour of the state today to accuse Republicans of inaction on student loan interest rates. Conveniently, Baldwin fails to mention that Republicans have offered no less than three separate options to prevent a doubling of student loan rates on July 1st, including two which were taken directly from President Obama’s own budget proposals. In fact, when Baldwin had a choice between keeping student loan interest rates from doubling or her precious ObamaCare, she chose ObamaCare. On April 27th, Baldwin made it clear that she preferred keeping an unpopular slush fund contained in ObamaCare in place rather…
Kerrey Cast The Deciding Vote For “The Biggest Tax Increase In The History Of The Country”
BOB KERREY’S LONG LOVE AFFAIR WITH HIGHER TAXES Last week, Bob Kerrey’s campaign told the Lincoln Journal Star that the former Senator supports tax relief for middle class families in Nebraska, but it’s just phony campaign rhetoric considering Kerrey actually cast the deciding vote for the largest tax increase ever. In fact, the Clinton White House even joked that they might rename a room in honor of Mr. Kerrey for his deciding vote on this massive tax increase on families and small businesses in the Cornhusker State. As The New York Times reports: “So with only his vote separating victory from defeat, the White House staged a frantic campaign to convince Mr. Kerrey that, yes, a moral consensus could still be achieved. It started with a 90-minute meeting with Mr. Clinton this morning in the White House living quarters. Officials were so solicitous that they moved Mr. Kerrey’s car in…
After 40 Years In Politics, Bill Nelson Finally Outlines What He Wants To Accomplish In Washington
Nonetheless Folks Still Think Of Bill Nelson As An Empty Suit In 1978, Bill Nelson ran for the House of Representatives on a platform of bringing a new direction to Congress and 34 years later he’s still uttering the same rhetoric. Today he delivered a speech unveiling what he would like to accomplish in Washington. Nelson claims he wants to balance the budget and gut the wasteful spending in Washington. Yet just last year he voted against a balanced budget amendment. Additionally, just a few years ago he supported the failed $825 billion stimulus where millions of dollars were given out to failed green energy companies – like Solyndra – and billions of dollars were given to tax cheats. “Bill Nelson talks a big game, but in Washington he’s voted against the balanced budget amendment and supported the failed stimulus which was riddled with wasteful projects,” said National Republican Senatorial Committee…
Embattled Congresswoman Berkley Doubles-Down On Her Job-Killing Medical Device Tax
When embattled Congresswoman Shelley Berkley voted for President Barack Obama’s $1.76 trillion healthcare law, it hit medical device companies in the country with a 2.3 percent tax and last week she voted in the House Ways and Means Committee to repeal this tax, but today she voted against repealing this tax. Medical device companies employ more than 400,000 Americans and this burdensome tax could eliminate 10 percent of the jobs in the industry, while encouraging these companies to move their plants overseas. As The Associated Press reports: The tax, which takes effect next January, applies to everything from replacement joints to imaging equipment but exempts consumer products like eyeglasses and bandages. … U.S. medical device makers employ more than 400,000 people. The industry’s largest trade group, AdvaMed, cites a study it commissioned that concluded the new tax could cost 43,000 of those jobs — about 10 percent — while…
