When Senator Bill Nelson rubberstamped Barack Obama’s $787 billion stimulus into law, he promised the legislation would ‘create or save’ nearly 206,000 jobs. Unfortunately that prediction was grossly inaccurate, because some of the largest stimulus projects in areas like Palm Beach County fell 80 percent short of the jobs it was suppose to ‘create or save.’ As the Palm Beach Post reports: “The largest stimulus-fueled road projects in Palm Beach County have created less than 20 percent of the jobs once promised, a Palm Beach Post analysis based on federal job-creation standards shows. … Local officials forecast nearly 600 jobs at five of Palm Beach County’s largest projects in early 2009. At least that many people got paychecks. But the hours worked amount to slightly more than 100 “full-time equivalent” jobs, based on 40-hour work weeks.” “When Bill Nelson rubberstamped Barack Obama’s $787 billion stimulus into law, he promised the…
After Campaigning On Support For A Balanced Budget, Stabenow Votes Against Even Debating Balanced Budget Amendment
As a candidate for U.S. Senate in 2000, Democrat Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) routinely presented herself as a proponent of fiscal responsibility, touting her support for a balanced budget and promising Michiganders she would support efforts to “pay our bills, pay down our debt” in Washington. But today, Stabenow voted with her Washington party bosses against even considering a measure to balance the federal budget while cutting runaway spending now and capping Washington’s spending in the future – just the latest in a long pattern of Stabenow putting her liberal Washington agenda ahead of keeping her promises to Michiganders. “Sadly, it’s not surprising that Senator Stabenow would vote against even considering a balanced federal budget today. But Michiganders are no doubt wondering how Stabenow explains her vote today in light of her previous promises to ‘pay down our debt’ in Washington.” said National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spokesman Jahan Wilcox today….

But Ohioans are no doubt wondering how Brown explains his vote today in light of his repeated claims to support a balanced budget in Washington.” said National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spokesman Jahan Wilcox today. In Washington, Brown has routinely abandoned his previous support for fiscal responsibility, instead choosing…

But Floridians are no doubt wondering how Nelson explains his vote today to kill a balanced budget in light of his previous claims to support a balanced budget in Washington.” said National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spokesman Jahan Wilcox today. Since coming to Washington, Nelson has routinely abandoned his previous…

As he continues to posture himself in advance of a tough reelection bid, Democrat Joe Manchin (D-WV) routinely preaches the importance of fiscal responsibility to West Virginians, even complaining earlier this year that our nation could never tackle its spending and debt crisis “unless there is a balanced budget amendment that forces us.” But today, Manchin stood instead with President Barack Obama and voted with his Washington party bosses against even considering a measure to balance the federal budget while cutting runaway spending now and capping Washington’s spending in the future – just the latest in a growing pattern of Manchin putting his support for Obama’s liberal Washington agenda ahead of keeping his promises to West Virginians. Manchin’s decision to help kill a balanced budget earned him high praise today from anti-coal Senate Democrat leader Harry Reid, who said his “friend from West Virginia” has been a “great addition” to…

But today, McCaskill voted with her Washington party bosses against even considering a measure to balance the federal budget while cutting runaway spending now and capping Washington’s spending in the future – just the latest in a long pattern of McCaskill putting her liberal Washington agenda ahead of keeping her promises to Missourians. In fact, it’s been 814 days since McCaskill and her fellow Senate Democrats have proposed any federal budget, much less the balanced budget McCaskill claimed to support. “Sadly, it’s not surprising that Senator McCaskill would flip-flop on what she said just weeks ago, and vote against even considering a…

As a candidate for U.S. Senate in 2006, Democrat Bob Casey (D-PA) routinely preached the importance of fiscal responsibility, and promised Pennsylvanians that he “believe[d] in a balanced budget” because “government should live within its means, like any small business.” But today, Casey voted with his Washington party bosses against even considering a measure to balance the federal budget while cutting runaway spending now and capping Washington’s spending in the future – just the latest in a long pattern of Casey putting his liberal Washington agenda ahead of keeping his promises to Pennsylvanians. “Sadly, it’s not surprising that Senator Casey would break his promise and vote against even considering a balanced federal budget today. But Pennsylvanians are no doubt wondering how Casey explains his vote today to kill a balanced budget in light of his repeated claims that he supported a balanced budget in Washington.” said National Republican Senatorial Committee…

But Montanans are no doubt wondering how Tester explains his vote today to kill a balanced budget in light of his repeated promises to lead the fight for a balanced budget in Washington.” said National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spokesman Chris Bond today. Report: Obama-Berkley Health Care Law “May Leave Families with High Insurance Costs”
In yet other indication of how harmful liberal U.S. Rep. Shelley Berkley (D-NV) and President Barack Obama’s massive health care overhaul is to middle-class Nevadans, Washington newspaper The Hill reports today that one of the law’s major provisions is poised to slam families with higher insurance costs: A major provision of the healthcare reform law designed to prevent businesses from dropping coverage for their workers could inadvertently leave families without access to subsidized health insurance. The problem is a huge headache for the Obama administration and Democrats, because it could leave families unable to buy affordable health insurance when the healthcare law requires that everyone be insured starting in 2014. Some of the administration’s closest allies on healthcare reform warn this could dramatically undercut support for the law, which is already unpopular with many voters and contributed to Democrats losing the House in the 2010 midterm elections. Notably, Berkley’s wealthy…
