After Failed Stimulus, Government Health Care & Record Debt, Barack Obama & Bill Nelson Push Largest Tax Hike In U.S. History

In 2009, Senator Bill Nelson joined President Obama in passing a $825 billion “stimulus” that failed to create the promised jobs.  In 2010, Nelson joined President Obama in passing a $2.5 trillion government health care bill that cut over $500 billion from Medicare.  Two weeks ago President Obama proposed yet another $400 billion in new “stimulus” spending. And today, President Obama proposed the largest tax hike in U.S. history –a $1.5 trillion tax increase on investors and small businesses that he says is needed to pay for their reckless spending agenda which has driven the federal debt past $14.6 trillion. “Under the Obama-Nelson economic record, America has lost 2.4 million jobs, the federal debt has skyrocketed past $14.6 trillion, government spending has grown to record levels, and the response from Obama and Nelson is to pass a record tax increase on the backs of Florida small businesses,” National Republican Senatorial…

More Evidence Of Bill Nelson’s Failed Big Government, Tax-And-Spend Agenda

For The 3rd Straight Month Florida’s Unemployment Rate Remains At 10.7 Percent Earlier today, the Department of Labor reported that Florida’s unemployment rate was at 10.7 percent for the month of August.  This is the third straight month Florida’s unemployment rate has remained at 10.7 percent and there are now 987,000 unemployed Floridians. As the Orlando Sentinel reports: Florida’s unemployment rate in August was 10.7 percent, unchanged from July and about 1 percentage point lower than the same time last year.  The number represents 987,000 jobless people out of a labor force of 9.2 million. The state’s rate is 1.6 percentage points higher than the national rate of 9.1 percent. “Today’s jobs report is just another painful reminder of the failed economic policies of Bill Nelson, because instead of supporting pro-growth, pro-jobs legislation Nelson has voted for job-killing initiatives government-run healthcare – which cut $500 billion from Medicare – and…

Will Loyal Obama Ally Again Support Tax-Spend-And-Borrow Agenda? As President Barack Obama prepares to call tonight, in a nationwide address, for a reported $400 billion in new “stimulus” spending – to be paid for later with new debt and job-killing tax hikes – where does his loyal ally, Senator Bill Nelson, stand? Notably, Floridians have heard this same jobs rhetoric from Obama and Nelson for the last several years.  Exactly a year ago, Obama promised a “plan that would start putting Americans to work right away.” And as he helped Obama and his Washington party bosses ram their $787 billion spending binge into law, Nelson claimed it would create 206,000 jobs in Florida and went so far to say that he could feel the recovery. But in reality, the United States has lost 2.4 million jobs since Obama took office, and the country is now in its 31st consecutive month…

Economy Stalls Once Again In Wake Of Nelson & Obama’s Failed “Stimulus”

Still Thinks Failed $787 Billion Stimulus Was Good For Florida?  WASHINGTON — As they rammed their $787 billion “stimulus” bill into law, Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL) and President Barack Obama claimed it would create millions of new jobs, and the Obama Administration projected it would keep unemployment below 8 percent. But instead, the United States has lost 2.4 million jobs since Obama became President – and the country is now in its 31st consecutive month of above-8-perecent unemployment. As The Hill reports: The U.S. economy added a net total of zero jobs for the month of August, prompting new fears about a double dip recession. Meanwhile, Bill Nelson still refuses to say where he stands as President Obama prepares to call for yet another round of costly stimulus spending, borrowed on the backs of Florida families and businesses. “With the economy still stuck in a ditch and failing to create…

As White House Prepares To Call For More Stimulus Spending, Where Does Bill Nelson Stand?

As President Obama plans to deliver yet another “major speech” on the economy in an effort to jumpstart the worst approval ratings of his Presidency, the White House is signaling that he will call for another round of borrowed “stimulus” funding.  And as ABC News reports this morning, “[m]any Democrats say they want to hear a forceful presidential push for new stimulus spending and middle-class tax cuts, with less emphasis on deficit reduction and government spending cuts they say could stunt job creation and hamper economic recovery. The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) today called on Senator Bill Nelson to step forward and make clear whether or not he agrees with President Obama and fellow liberal Democrats that more government spending is needed to jumpstart the economy. “Given Senator Bill Nelson’s strong support for the Obama agenda and his past failed stimulus policies, Floridians deserve to know if he intends…

New CBO Report Confirms Consequences Of Nelson-Obama Spending Agenda

Congressional Budget Office Predicts $1.3T Deficit in 2011, Third Largest in 65 Years During his long career, Bill Nelson has regularly railed against deficit spending by the federal government. In fact, during a debate on the Senate floor in 2004, Nelson once said: CLICK THE SCREENSHOT TO LISTEN TO BILL NELSON   “Instead, The Huge Budget Deficits Year After Year Have Put Us On A Reckless Fiscal Path That Will Take Us Decades To Undo. And Guess Who Is Going To Pay Off That Debt We Keep Adding To The Tune Of Half A Trillion Dollars A Year. It Is Going To Be Our Children And Our Grandchildren Who Are Going To Have To Pay Off That Debt .” (Sen. Nelson, Congressional Record, S11405, 11/17/04)   Yet, as the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office confirmed in a report released this morning, in the last three years that Bill Nelson has been…

More Empty Rhetoric From Barack Obama & Bill Nelson As Jobless Claims Rise Again

Dangerous Déjà Vu In 30th Consecutive Month Of 8%+ Unemployment As he helped President Barack Obama ram the $787 billion stimulus into law, U.S. Senator Bill Nelson claimed it would create jobs and help get our economy back on track, while his friends in the Obama Administration projected the spending binge would hold unemployment below 8 percent. But instead, our country has lost 2.4 million jobs since President Obama came into office, while unemployment stands at 9.1 percent and has been above 8 percent for 30 consecutive months.  And today, Bloomberg reports that jobless claims continue to rise: More Americans than forecast filed applications for unemployment benefits last week, signaling the labor market is struggling two years into the economic recovery. Jobless claims climbed by 9,000 to 408,000 in the week ended Aug. 13, the highest in a month, Labor Department figures showed today in Washington. Economists surveyed by Bloomberg…

UNCONSTITUTIONAL: Federal Appeals Court Rules Against Bill Nelson’s ObamaCare Mandate

In 2009 Bill Nelson voted for President Barack Obama’s government-run healthcare bill that raised taxes by $500 billion, cut $500 billion from Medicare and forced every American to purchase health insurance. Fortunately the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals – which was comprised of two judges who were nominated by President Bill Clinton and one judge who was nominated by President George H.W. Bush – ruled that the health care reform law’s requirement that nearly all Americans buy insurance is unconstitutional. As the Washington Examiner reports: “A federal appeals court has ruled that the national health care law’s individual mandate is unconstitutional, calling it “an unprecedented exercise of congressional power.” The 11th Circuit, which was hearing the case brought by 26 states led by Florida and the National Federation of Independent Business concluded: that the individual mandate contained in the Act exceeds Congress’s enumerated commerce power.” “Despite his continued attempts to…

Yes Or No, Does Bill Nelson Stand With Obama In Calling For More Deficit “Stimulus” Spending?

Will Nelson Back Second Stimulus After Rubber-Stamping First $787 Billion Debacle? As he helped ram President Barack Obama’s $787 billion stimulus into law, Democrat U.S. Senator Bill Nelson promised it would create millions of new jobs and his friends in the Obama Administration projected the deficit-spending spree would hold unemployment below 8 percent. But instead, our country has lost 2.4 million jobs since President Obama came into office and is now in its 30th consecutive month with higher-than-8-percent unemployment – while our national debt has skyrocketed to $14.5 trillion. So where does Bill Nelson stand now, as Obama calls for Floridians to foot the bill for yet another round of costly “stimulus” spending in Washington? As Fox News reports: In his weekly address on Saturday, President Barack Obama called for Congress to approve more money for a new—and vaguely defined—program to repair roads, bridges and airports as a means of…

Bill Nelson Joins Obama In Preparing To Put Re-Election Bid Ahead Of Protecting U.S. Economy

Stands Against House Republican Proposal, While Ignoring Debt Limit History In yet another sign that he’s prepared to put the re-election efforts of himself and President Obama ahead of avoiding the federal government defaulting on its debt for the first time in U.S. history, U.S. Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL) joined with his liberal party leaders last night in signing a letter announcing his firm opposition to the two-step plan offered by House Speaker John Boehner and which will be voted on by the House yesterday. In his letter, Nelson joined with Democrat leaders Harry Reid and Chuck Schumer in claiming that an initial six-month extension, as opposed to the two year extension sought by President Obama, would put America at risk.  Notably, the Boehner bill has the strong support and endorsement of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.  Ignoring that, Nelson and his fellow Democrats write, “A short-term extension like the…
