As Casey Seeks $2 Trillion Blank Check, CBO Issues Dire Report On Debt Crisis

On the 784th day since U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) and his fellow Senate Democrats last passed a federal budget, and in the midst of calls by Casey for a $2 trillion debt ceiling increase without any substantive spending reforms, the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) today released a deeply troubling report on our country’s fiscal future. In its latest update of The Long-Term Budget Outlook, the CBO provides an overview of the looming debt crisis and projects that by the end of this year, the federal debt will reach roughly 70 percent of gross domestic product (GDP)—the highest percentage since shortly after World War II. “Years of borrowed spending and bigger government have brought our country to the most predictable economic crisis in American history, and instead of passing a budget in the last 784 days, Senator Casey wants to increase our credit card limit by another $2 trillion,” said…

Obama & Casey’s Endless Summer…

One Year After Declaring “Recovery Summer,” Stimulus Failure Continues To Highlight Casey’s Reckless Spending, Broken Promises WASHINGTON — In case liberal U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) lost track of the date and forgot to remind Pennsylvanians, it’s been a full year since Casey and his fellow Washington Democrats declared that it was “Recovery Summer,” promising that their $787 billion in reckless deficit spending would fix America’s ailing economy. So, to mark the one-year anniversary of Casey and the Democrats’ “Recovery Summer,” it’s worth examining a few of the claims he and his fellow liberal Democrats made regarding their failed $787 billion stimulus debacle.  For instance… The Obama administration claimed their stimulus would “save or create 3.5 million jobs before 2011,” and Casey claimed it would “get our economy out of the ditch by creating jobs.”  But America has lost nearly 1.9 million jobs since he helped ram the stimulus into…

Even Libya Passed A Budget – Why Can’t Casey & Fellow Senate Democrats?

Even in the midst of a civil war and daily air strikes by NATO forces, the Libyan Government has succeeded in doing something that U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) and his fellow Senate Democrats have refused to do for 778 days – pass a budget. Reuters news agency reports that Libya’s government this week approved a $31.4 billion budget for the rest of 2011. Yet, here in the United States, Senate Democrats like Casey haven’t even offered a budget proposal, let alone passed one.  Casey’s liberal leaders, Senators Harry Reid (D-NV) and Chuck Schumer (D-NY), have said that to do so would be “foolish,” and that Democrats do not have the time to propose a budget. Notably, as a candidate for Senate in 2006, Casey expressed support for a balanced budget. “It speaks volumes that even in the middle of a civil war, the Libyan government has succeeded in doing…

1.9 Million Fewer Americans Have A Job Since Casey’s Stimulus Was Signed Into Law

$787 Billion Debacle Failed To Create Jobs, Drove Nat’l Debt Past $14.3 Trillion When liberal U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) and his tax-and-spend friends in Washington rammed through their $787 billion stimulus, they promised it would “save or create 3.5 million jobs before 2011” and he said it would “get our economy out of the ditch by creating jobs.” But the fact is, 28 months since Casey and the Democrats passed their stimulus, nearly 1.9 million fewer Americans are employed. As CNS News reports: Twenty-eight months after Congress passed President Obama’s signature economic stimulus law, and nearly one year after he declared the summer of 2010 to be “Recovery Summer,” 1.9 million fewer people are employed.  In February 2009, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that 141.7 million people were employed. By the end of May 2011 – the last month for which data are available – that number…

Casey To Obama: Don’t Cap My Spending!

Joins Who’s Who Of Washington Liberals To Demand Business As Usual In a letter to President Barack Obama this week, U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) once again joined with the liberal wing of the Democrat party in Washington to express his strong opposition to capping the federal government’s runaway spending, which has now driven our national debt to a record-high $14.3 trillion. Casey’s letter to President Obama, also signed by liberal Senators Barbara Boxer (D-CA) and Chuck Schumer (D-NY), among others, clearly states that Casey and his fellow Senate liberals “strongly oppose emerging proposals to arbitrarily cap total federal spending.” Since promising as a Senate candidate in 2006 to support a balanced budget in Washington, Casey’s big-spending record has consistently contradicted his election-cycle lip service to fiscal responsibility – with the latest example being that it has now been 772 days since Casey and the Senate Democrats performed their most…

Silent Bob Casey Clings To Campaign Cash As Another Donor Admits Guilt

Benefactor Pleads Guilty As Casey Clings To Weiner’s Campaign Cash As more and more of U.S. Senator Bob Casey’s (D-PA) Democratic colleagues – including fellow Pennsylvanians Ed Rendell, Rep. Allyson Schwartz and Patrick Murphy – call on disgraced Congressman and Casey campaign benefactor Anthony Weiner (D-NY) to resign, Casey continues to keep mum and cling to the $1,000 in campaign cash he took from Weiner. But, as The Hill reports, Casey’s campaign finance troubles go beyond his refusal to acknowledge, much less return, his tainted Weiner contributions: Delaware liquor executive Christopher Tigani faces two counts of willfully making campaign contributions in the names of others – a violation of the Federal Election Campaign Act – and two counts of making false statements on his tax returns, according to court documents unsealed in U.S. District Court in Delaware on Thursday… Tigani in 2006 also donated… $2,100 to Sen. Bob Casey (Pa.)….

More Top Democrats Call For Weiner To Go, But Casey Silently Clings To Weiner’s Campaign Cash

As even more of his fellow Washington Democrats join Republican calls for disgraced U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner’s (D-NY) resignation, liberal U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) apparently disagrees, and is instead remaining silent and refusing to divest himself of the $1,000 in cash he took from Weiner to bankroll his campaign. Notably, while Casey holds on to the campaign money he took from Weiner, other beneficiaries of Weiner’s largesse have dumped their tainted cash, including U.S. Reps. Joe Donnelly (D-IN), Betty Sutton (D-OH), Tim Walz (D-MN), and a growing list of others. Additionally, according to Politico, a growing list of top Democrats – including former DNC Chairmen Tim Kaine and Ed Rendell, U.S. Senators Pat Leahy (D-VT) and Mark Pryor (D-AR), and U.S. Reps. Allyson Schwartz (D-PA), Mike Ross (D-AR), Larry Kissell (D-NC), Earl Blumenauer (D-OR), Niki Tsongas (D-MA), Michael Michaud (D-ME) and Joe Donnelly (D-IN) – are all calling for…

Casey’s Inaction Leads To More Debt

770 Days & Counting Since Casey & The Senate Democrats Passed A Budget It’s been 770 days since U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) and the Democrats who run the Senate last performed the most basic job function of Congress by passing a federal budget.  In fact, Casey and his fellow Senate Democrats have refused to even propose a budget in the current Congress. To make matters worse, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) announced that last month we were assessed $5 billion more in interest payments on our debt than in May 2010 and the fiscal year budget deficit now stands at $929 billion. “Democrats like Bob Casey say they don’t have the time to propose, let alone pass a budget and now we know that Casey’s inaction has resulted in $5 billion more in interest payments on our debt,” said National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spokesman Chris Bond.  “With our…

As Fellow Democrats & Republicans Call For Weiner’s Resignation, Casey Remains Silent

Continues To Cling To Weiner Campaign Cash, Stand By Lewd New York Rep As he continues to posture himself on a wide variety of issues in advance of a tough reelection battle, liberal U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) has remained conspicuously silent on the explosive controversy regarding his friend, campaign benefactor, and colleague U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner’s (D-NY) lewd online behavior. In the face of Republican calls for Weiner’s resignation, Casey’s fellow Democrats Betty Sutton (D-OH) and Tim Walz (D-MN) dumped thousands of dollars in campaign cash they took from Weiner, and former DNC Chairman Tim Kaine is now calling for Weiner’s resignation.  But Casey continues to hold on to the $1,000 in campaign cash he took from Weiner, standing by his friend Weiner despite growing outcry against his conduct. “Apparently Bob Casey isn’t especially disturbed by his friend Anthony Weiner’s behavior, because he continues to stand by Weiner and…

Casey And The Dilemma Of 53 Votes…

769 Days & Counting Since Senate Democrats Passed A Budget It’s been 769 days since U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) and the Democrats who run the Senate have performed the most basic job function of Congress by passing a federal budget.  In the current 112th Congress, Casey and the Democrats have yet to propose, much less pass, any budget. As Americans continue to demand substantial action to address our country’s unsustainable debt-and-spending crisis, Democrats have attempted to defend their dereliction with a string of implausible excuses… First, Senate Democrat Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) said it would be “foolish” to propose a budget.  Then, the Senate Democrats’ designated communications guru Chuck Schumer (D-NY) complained that Democrats just don’t have the time to propose a budget. Not to be outdone, Senate Democrat Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL) has offered yet a third excuse – asserting that Senate Democrats shouldn’t be expected to put forward…
