Stabenow Silent As Another Democrat Comes Out Against Her Tax Hikes

Insists On Job-Killing Tax Hikes, Raising Debt Ceiling Without Spending Reform In the wake of U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow’s deficit spending binge in Washington, our national debt now stands at a record-high $14.3 trillion.  But rather than taking America’s debt and spending crisis seriously and getting Washington’s spending under control, Stabenow continues to demanding job-killing tax hikes – even as more of her fellow Democrats join Republicans in demanding that tax hikes be taken off the table. As Roll Call’s David Drucker noted just minutes ago, liberal Nebraska Senator Ben Nelson came out today against tax hikes saying “Debt reduction should focus on spending cuts..Raising taxes at a time when our economy remains fragile takes us in the wrong direction. That won’t create jobs in Nebraska.” Meanwhile, as The Hill reported last week, “[West Virginia Democrat Senator Joe] Manchin, who is a top GOP target in next year’s elections, has…

Almost 800 Days Later, Stabenow & Fellow Democrats To Propose $2 Trillion Tax Hike Budget

While Seeking To Increase The Country’s Credit Card Limit By Another $2 Trillion A full 798 days – and $3.2 trillion in new debt – since Senate Democrats last passed a budget, it appears Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) and her Democrat colleagues may finally be on the verge this week of at least introducing their own budget this Congress. But there’s a critical catch – according to published reports on Capitol Hill this morning, the Senate Democrats’ budget is expected to include at least $2 trillion in new tax increases – at a time when the national unemployment rate stands at 9.1%.  Notably, this matches the $2 trillion in unchecked spending that Stabenow is calling for by increasing the debt limit without tying it to any serious spending reforms. “Michiganders have waited almost 800 days for Senate Democrats to pass a budget, while the federal debt has climbed to $14.3…

White House Economists: Stabenow Stimulus Cost Taxpayers $278,000 Per Job

Obama’s Top Economists Reveal Hefty Price Tag For Failed Stimulus Debacle Since liberal U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow rammed her $787 billion stimulus into law, America has lost nearly 1.9 million jobs and our national debt has skyrocketed to a record-high $14.3 trillion.  Now, the White House’s own top economists estimate that the stimulus debacle cost taxpayers an average $278,000 per job. As the Weekly Standard notes: “The report was written by the White House’s Council of Economic Advisors, a group of three economists who were all handpicked by Obama, and it chronicles the alleged success of the “stimulus” in adding or saving jobs. The council reports that, using “mainstream estimates of economic multipliers for the effects of fiscal stimulus” (which it describes as a “natural way to estimate the effects of” the legislation), the “stimulus” has added or saved just under 2.4 million jobs — whether private or public —…

As Republicans Seek A Balanced Budget Amendment, Debbie Stabenow & Obama Demand New Tax Hikes, Wasteful Spending

Walks In Lockstep With Obama, D.C. Party Bosses, Against Michiganders’ Interests It’s been more than 790 days since liberal U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) and her fellow Senate Democrats passed a federal budget – during which time our national debt has exploded to a record-high $14.3 trillion. But as Senate Republicans today propose – and unanimously support – a common-sense Balanced Budget Amendment to finally bring Washington’s spending and debt under control, Stabenow is standing instead with President Barack Obama and the rest of her Washington party bosses, joining their calls for new job-killing tax hikes and yet another round of wasteful “stimulus” spending. Notably, as a candidate for U.S. Senate in 2000 Stabenow expressed support for a federal balanced budget amendment. But since arriving in the Senate, Stabenow has broken her promise to Michiganders, joining her liberal Democrat colleagues as they continue to abdicate their basic responsibility to pass…

Why Doesn’t Debbie Stabenow Agree With Fellow Senate Dem That More Spending & Tax Hikes Should Be Off The Table?

Again Stands With Obama, Left Wing Of Democrat Party In Washington With our national debt already topping a record $14.3 trillion, liberal U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) is standing with the left wing of the Democrat party in Washington as they continue to put crucial debt negotiations at risk with their insistence on more wasteful spending and job-killing tax hikes.  Meanwhile, even some of Stabenow’s fellow Democrats are beginning to join Republican calls to take these harmful proposals off the table, including U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV). As Politico reports: “Manchin, who is a top GOP target in next year’s elections, has said he will not vote to raise the debt ceiling without spending reforms, and sides with the Republicans on keeping tax raises off the table.  ‘I don’t believe in tax hikes,’ Manchin said. ‘We have to start living within our means in this country.’” “At a time when…

Why Won’t Debbie Stabenow Ask That Tax Increases & More Spending Be Off The Table For Debt Hike Talks

Talks Frayed Over Democrats’ Insistence That Both Be Part Of The Final Deal With America’s debt now skyrocketing past $14.3 trillion, negotiations on Capitol Hill to increase the debt limit by another $2 trillion are currently stalled over Democrats’ insistence that tax increases and new “stimulus” spending be part of any final package, instead of the important reform measures that non-partisan experts say are needed to prevent Medicare from going bankrupt. “America is on the brink of an economic crisis of historic proportions and yet Debbie Stabenow and her fellow Democrats in Washington are insisting on job-killing tax hikes and even more ‘stimulus spending,’” said National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spokesman Jahan Wilcox today.  “Michiganders know that the problem with Washington isn’t that our government taxes too little, but that it spends too much.  At what point will Senator Stabenow listen to that message and finally stand up to her…

Medicare Trustees: Debbie Stabenow’s Plan Will “Bankrupt” Medicare, Cut Benefits, “End Medicare As We Know It”

As she attempts to distract voters from her decision to cut Medicare by $500 billion in order to fund ObamaCare, liberal U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow and her Washington Democrat allies have been busy trying to scare Michigan seniors and demagogue the crucial issue of Medicare. But in a U.S. House of Representatives hearing on the 2011 Medicare Trustees Report yesterday, the two public trustees of Medicare, Dr. Charles P. Blahous and Dr. Robert Reischauer, admitted that Stabenow and the Democrats’ plan would “end Medicare as we know it,” “bankrupt” the program and lead to benefit cuts for seniors. “Medicare’s own public trustees are warning Michiganders that Debbie Stabenow’s policies will ‘end Medicare as we know it,’ by bankrupting the program and cutting benefits for seniors,” said National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spokesman Jahan Wilcox.  “Why does Debbie Stabenow continue to put her partisan interests in Washington ahead of the best…

As Debbie Stabenow Seeks $2 Trillion Blank Check, CBO Issues Dire Report On Debt Crisis

On the 784th day since U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow and her fellow Senate Democrats last passed a federal budget, and in the midst of calls by Stabenow for a $2 trillion debt ceiling increase without any substantive spending reforms, the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office [CBO] today released a deeply troubling report on our country’s fiscal future. In its latest update of The Long-Term Budget Outlook, the CBO provides an overview of the looming debt crisis and projects that by the end of this year, the federal debt will reach roughly 70 percent of gross domestic product (GDP)—the highest percentage since shortly after World War II. “Years of borrowed spending and bigger government have brought our country to the most predictable economic crisis in American history, and instead of passing a budget in the last 784 days, Senator Stabenow wants to increase our credit card limit by another $2 trillion,” National Republican…

Even Libya Passed A Budget – Why Can’t Debbie Stabenow & Fellow Senate Democrats?

Even in the midst of a civil war and daily air strikes by NATO forces, the Libyan Government has succeeded in doing something that Senator Debbie Stabenow and her fellow Senate Democrats have refused to do for 778 days – pass a budget. Reuters news agency reports that Libya’s government this week approved a $31.4 billion budget for the rest of 2011. Yet, here in the United States, Senate Democrats like Stabenow haven’t even offered a budget proposal, let alone passed one.  Stabenow’s liberal leaders, Senators Harry Reid (D-NV) and Chuck Schumer (D-NY), have said that to do so would be “foolish,” and that Democrats do not have the time to propose a budget. “It speaks volumes that even in the middle of a civil war, the Libyan government has succeeded in doing something that has eluded Senator Stabenow and her fellow liberal Democrats for almost two years – passing…

1.9 Million Fewer Americans Have A Job Since Stabenow’s Stimulus Was Signed Into Law

The Wolverine State Has Lost Over 60,000 Jobs Since The Bill Was Passed When Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) and her tax-and-spend friends in Washington rammed through the $787 billion stimulus, she promised it would ‘create or save’ 3.5 million jobs and approximately 100,000 of these jobs would be in Michigan.  The fact is after 28 months since the stimulus was passed, nearly 1.9 million fewer Americans are employed and Michigan has lost over 60,000 jobs. As CNSNews reports: Twenty-eight months after Congress passed President Obama’s signature economic stimulus law, and nearly one year after he declared the summer of 2010 to be “Recovery Summer,” 1.9 million fewer people are employed.  In February 2009, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that 141.7 million people were employed. By the end of May 2011 – the last month for which data are available – that number had fallen to 139.8 million, a difference…
