“Richard and I, along with millions of Americans – including even Joe Donnelly – believe that life is a gift from God. To try and construe his words as anything other than a restatement of that belief is irresponsible and ridiculous. In fact, rather than condemning him for his position, as some in his party have when it’s come to Republicans, I commend Congressman Donnelly for his support of life.

“But this election is about big ideas and the reality that our country is going in the wrong direction. If you support Obamacare, government bailouts, reckless spending and higher taxes than you should vote for Joe Donnelly. But if you believe, as I do, that our government is too big, our taxes are too high, and we are passing an irresponsible debt onto future generations, than Richard Mourdock is your candidate to help get our country back on track.”

Unemployment Rises To 9.1% In Wake Of Donnelly & Obama’s Failed $787 Billion Stimulus

In yet another reminder that President Obama and liberal U.S. Rep. Joe Donnelly’s (D-IN) $787 billion stimulus failed to create jobs while driving our national debt past $14.3 trillion, the U.S. Department of Labor reports today that national unemployment has risen again to 9.1 percent.

Today’s rise in unemployment is just the latest development to highlight the failure of Obama and Donnelly’s tax-and-spend economic policies in Washington. While Congressman Donnelly and the Obama Administration promised their $787 billion stimulus would create millions of new jobs and keep national unemployment below 8 percent, the United States has actually lost more than 1.8 million jobs since Donnelly helped his Washington party bosses ram it into law – and national unemployment has remained above 8 percent now for 28 consecutive months.

“As the unemployment rate rises to 9.1 percent, Hoosiers are reminded once again that the Obama-Donnelly agenda of reckless spending has failed to create the jobs they promised while driving our national debt past a record $14.3 trillion,” said National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spokesman Chris Bond.

National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) Communications Director Brian Walsh issued the following statement in response to reports that liberal U.S. Representative Joe Donnelly (D-IN) will announce for the U.S. Senate in Indiana tomorrow:

“Just months after voters overwhelmingly rejected Brad Ellsworth’s liberal policies, Joe Donnelly wants to sell Hoosiers on that exact same big-spending, job-killing Washington agenda. We welcome him into the race and look forward to him campaigning side-by-side with President Obama.

“Just like Ellsworth, Donnelly has been a partisan rubber stamp for liberal Democrat leaders in Washington, helping them ram through ObamaCare and the failed $787 billion stimulus debacle. Hoosiers have made it clear that they’re not interested in more reckless spending, tax hikes and out-of-control debt in Washington – but Democrats like Joe Donnelly have long ignored the voices of Indiana’s families and job creators, and that’s why we’re confident this seat will remain in Republican hands.”
