Again Stands With Obama, Left Wing Of Democrat Party In Washington

With our national debt already topping a record $14.3 trillion, liberal U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) is standing with the left wing of the Democrat party in Washington as they continue to put crucial debt negotiations at risk with their insistence on more wasteful spending and job-killing tax hikes.  Meanwhile, even some of Brown’s fellow Democrats are beginning to join Republican calls to take these harmful proposals off the table, including U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV). As Politico reports: “Manchin, who is a top GOP target in next year’s elections, has said he will not vote to raise the debt ceiling without spending reforms, and sides with the Republicans on keeping tax raises off the table.  ‘I don’t believe in tax hikes,’ Manchin said. ‘We have to start living within our means in this country.’” “At a time when our debt has skyrocketed past $14 trillion and too many Ohioans…

Why Won’t Sherrod Brown Ask That Tax Increases & More Spending Be Off The Table For Debt Hike Talks?

Talks Frayed Over Democrats’ Insistence That Both Be Part Of The Final Deal With America’s debt now skyrocketing past $14.3 trillion, negotiations on Capitol Hill to increase the debt limit by another $2 trillion are currently stalled over Democrats’ insistence that tax increases and new “stimulus” spending be part of any final package, instead of the important reform measures that non-partisan experts say are needed to prevent Medicare from going bankrupt. “America is on the brink of an economic crisis of historic proportions and yet Sherrod Brown and his fellow Democrats in Washington are insisting on job-killing tax hikes and even more ‘stimulus spending,’” said National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spokesman Jahan Wilcox today.  “Ohioans know that the problem with Washington isn’t that our government taxes too little, but that it spends too much.  At what point will Senator Brown listen to that message and finally stand up to his…

Medicare Trustees: Brown’s Plan Will “Bankrupt” Medicare, Cut Benefits, “End Medicare As We Know It”

As he attempts to distract voters from his decision to cut Medicare by $500 billion in order to fund ObamaCare, liberal U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) and his Washington Democrat allies have been busy trying to scare Ohio seniors and demagogue the crucial issue of Medicare. But in a U.S. House of Representatives hearing on the 2011 Medicare Trustees Report yesterday, the two public trustees of Medicare, Dr. Charles P. Blahous and Dr. Robert Reischauer, admitted that Brown and the Democrats’ plan would “end Medicare as we know it,” “bankrupt” the program and lead to benefit cuts for seniors. “Medicare’s own public trustees are warning Ohioans that Senator Brown’s policies will ‘end Medicare as we know it,’ by bankrupting the program and cutting benefits for seniors,” said National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spokesman Jahan Wilcox.  “Why does Sherrod Brown continue to put his own narrow partisan interests in Washington ahead…

As Sherrod Brown Seeks $2 Trillion Blank Check, CBO Issues Dire Report On Debt Crisis

On the 784th day since U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown and his fellow Senate Democrats last passed a federal budget, and in the midst of calls by Brown for a $2 trillion debt ceiling increase without any substantive spending reforms, the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office [CBO] today released a deeply troubling report on our country’s fiscal future. In its latest update of The Long-Term Budget Outlook, the CBO provides an overview of the looming debt crisis and projects that by the end of this year, the federal debt will reach roughly 70 percent of gross domestic product (GDP)—the highest percentage since shortly after World War II. “Years of borrowed spending and bigger government have brought our country to the most predictable economic crisis in American history, and instead of passing a budget in the last 784 days, Senator Brown wants to increase our credit card limit by another $2 trillion,” National Republican…

Even Libya Passed A Budget – Why Can’t Sherrod Brown & Fellow Senate Democrats?

Even in the midst of a civil war and daily air strikes by NATO forces, the Libyan Government has succeeded in doing something that Senator Sherrod Brown and his fellow Senate Democrats have refused to do for 778 days – pass a budget. Reuters news agency reports that Libya’s government this week approved a $31.4 billion budget for the rest of 2011. Yet, here in the United States, Senate Democrats like Brown haven’t even offered a budget proposal, let alone passed one.  Brown’s liberal leaders, Senators Harry Reid (D-NV) and Chuck Schumer (D-NY), have said that to do so would be “foolish,” and that Democrats do not have the time to propose a budget. “It speaks volumes that even in the middle of a civil war, the Libyan government has succeeded in doing something that has eluded Senator Brown and his fellow liberal Democrats for almost two years – passing…

1.9 Million Fewer Americans Have A Job Since Brown’s Stimulus Was Signed Into Law

The Buckeye State Has Lost Over 38,000 Jobs Since The Bill Was Passed When Sherrod Brown (D-OH) and his tax-and-spend friends in Washington rammed through the $787 billion stimulus, he promised it would ‘create or save’ 3.5 million jobs and approximately 133,000 of these jobs would be in Ohio.  The fact is after 28 months since the stimulus was passed, nearly 1.9 million fewer Americans are employed and Ohio has lost over 38,000 jobs. As CNSNews reports: Twenty-eight months after Congress passed President Obama’s signature economic stimulus law, and nearly one year after he declared the summer of 2010 to be “Recovery Summer,” 1.9 million fewer people are employed.  In February 2009, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that 141.7 million people were employed. By the end of May 2011 – the last month for which data are available – that number had fallen to 139.8 million, a difference…

Brown To Obama: Don’t Cap My Spending!

Joins Who’s Who Of Washington Liberals To Demand Business As Usual In a letter to President Barack Obama, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) reaffirmed his standing with the liberal wing of the Democrat party in Washington by expressing his strong opposition to capping the federal government’s runaway spending, which has now driven our national debt to a record-high $14.3 trillion. Brown’s letter to President Obama, also signed by liberal Senators Barbara Boxer (D-CA) and Chuck Schumer (D-NY), among others, clearly states that Brown and his fellow Senate liberals “strongly oppose emerging proposals to arbitrarily cap total federal spending.” Since promising as a Senate candidate in 2006 to support a balanced budget in Washington, Brown’s big-spending record has consistently contradicted his election-cycle lip service to fiscal responsibility – with the latest example being that it has now been 772 days since Brown and the Senate Democrats performed their most basic duty…

Brown Still Silent As More Democrats Call On Weiner To Quit

No Cause For Alarm In NY Rep. Posting, Lying About Lewd Pictures On Internet? As even more of his fellow Washington Democrats join Republican calls for disgraced U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner’s (D-NY) resignation, liberal U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) apparently disagrees, and is remaining silent on his Democrat colleague’s lewd online behavior. So far, according to Politico, a growing list of top Democrats – including former DNC Chairmen Tim Kaine and Ed Rendell, U.S. Senators Pat Leahy (D-VT) and Mark Pryor (D-AR), and U.S. Reps. Allyson Schwartz (D-PA), Mike Ross (D-AR), Larry Kissell (D-NC), Earl Blumenauer (D-OR), Niki Tsongas (D-MA), Michael Michaud (D-ME) and Joe Donnelly (D-IN) – are all calling for Weiner to resign.  But not Joe Manchin… “Does Senator Brown agree with this growing list of his fellow Democrats that it’s time for Anthony Weiner to go, or does he continue to stand by his Democrat colleague despite…

Sherrod Brown’s Inaction Leads To More Debt

770 Days & Counting Since Brown & The Senate Democrats Passed A Budget It’s been 770 days since U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) and the Democrats who run the Senate have failed to perform the most basic job function of Congress by passing a federal budget.  In fact, Brown and his fellow Democrats have refused to even propose a budget in the current Congress. To make matters worse, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) announced that last month we were assessed $5 billion more in interest payments on our debt than in May 2010 and the fiscal year budget deficit now stands at $929 billion. “Democrats like Sherrod Brown said they did not have the time to propose, let alone pass a budget and now we have learned that Brown’s inaction has resulted in $5 billion more in interest payments on our debt,” said National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spokesman Jahan…

As Fellow Democrats & Republicans Call For Weiner’s Resignation, Brown Remains Silent

Continues To Stand By Lewd New York Rep? As he continues to posture himself on a wide variety of issues in advance of his reelection bid, liberal U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) has remained conspicuously silent on the explosive controversy regarding his Democrat colleague U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner’s (D-NY) lewd online behavior. In the face of Republican calls for Weiner’s resignation, House Democrat Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) asked for an ethics investigation into Weiner’s behavior, after which Brown’s fellow Democrats Betty Sutton (D-OH) and Tim Walz (D-MN) dumped thousands of dollars in campaign cash they took from Weiner.  And reports today show that even former DNC Chairman Tim Kaine is now calling for Weiner’s resignation.  But Brown has yet to tell Ohioans where he stands. “As his fellow Washington Democrats call for Anthony Weiner’s resignation in the wake of these disturbing admissions, why does Sherrod Brown still refuse to tell…
