As White House Prepares To Call For More Stimulus Spending, Where Does Kaine Stand?

Does He Still Believe $787 Billion Stimulus “Jumpstart[ed] The Economy”??? As President Obama plans to deliver yet another “major speech” on the economy in an effort to jumpstart the worst approval ratings of his Presidency, the White House is signaling that he will call for another round of borrowed “stimulus” spending.  And as ABC News reports this morning, “[m]any Democrats say they want to hear a forceful presidential push for new stimulus spending and middle-class tax cuts, with less emphasis on deficit reduction and government spending cuts they say could stunt job creation and hamper economic recovery.” The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) today called on former DNC Chairman Tim Kaine to step forward and make clear whether or not he agrees with President Obama and fellow liberal Democrats that more government spending is needed to jumpstart the economy. “Given Tim Kaine’s strong support for the Obama agenda and his…

New CBO Report Confirms Consequences Of Kaine-Obama Spending Agenda

Congressional Budget Office Predicts $1.3T Deficit in 2011, Third Largest in 65 Years As he attempts to rewrite history in advance of next year’s election for Virginia’s open U.S. Senate seat, former DNC Chairman Tim Kaine routinely lectures Virginians on the importance of “fiscal responsibility.” In fact, in his very first stop after announcing his campaign for Senate, Kaine complained that Washington needed a “better attitude on fiscal responsibility.” (John Geddie, “Kaine Makes Loudoun His First Campaign Stop,” Loudon [VA] Times-Mirror, 4/10/11) Yet, as the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office confirmed in a report released this morning, in the last three years – much of which Kaine has spent as DNC Chairman in Washington, supporting every single one of President Obama’s big-government spending programs – the federal government has recorded the three largest deficits in the last 65 years.   The CBO also noted that the national unemployment rate – now at…

More Empty Rhetoric From Obama & Kaine As Jobless Claims Rise Again

Dangerous Déjà Vu In 30th Consecutive Month Of 8%+ Unemployment As he cheered his fellow Washington Democrats for ramming President Barack Obama’s $787 billion stimulus into law, former DNC Chairman Tim Kaine claimed it would create jobs and help get our economy back on track, while his friends in the Obama Administration projected the spending binge would hold unemployment below 8 percent. But instead, our country has lost 2.4 million jobs since President Obama came into office, while unemployment stands at 9.1 percent and has been above 8 percent for 30 consecutive months.  And today, Bloomberg reports that jobless claims continue to rise: More Americans than forecast filed applications for unemployment benefits last week, signaling the labor market is struggling two years into the economic recovery. Jobless claims climbed by 9,000 to 408,000 in the week ended Aug. 13, the highest in a month, Labor Department figures showed today in…

UNCONSTITUTIONAL: Federal Appeals Court Rules Against Kaine’s ObamaCare Mandate

As he cheered for his fellow Washington Democrats to ram ObamaCare into law, former DNC Chairman Tim Kaine showed his strong support for President Barack Obama’s onerous individual mandate. Last year, when a federal court in Virginia ruled the mandate unconstitutional, Kaine “argued that the law does not violate the federal government’s authority to regulate interstate commerce because health decisions have real world consequences” – indicating that he apparently only respects the U.S. Constitution when the matter in question is devoid of “real world consequences.” But today, a federal appeals court issued the latest in a series of rulings against Kaine and Obama’s individual mandate.  As The Hill newspaper reports: A federal appeals court ruled Friday that the individual coverage mandate in healthcare reform is unconstitutional… The ruling from the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals comes in the highest-profile challenge to the new law’s requirement that most people buy insurance….

Obama’s Springfield “Jaunt” Reminds Voters Of Kaine’s Calls For Job-Killing Tax Hikes

Doubles Down On Tax-Spend-&-Borrow Policies In Wake Of Costly, Failed Stimulus As USA Today reports that President Barack Obama will take a “short jaunt” to Springfield, Virginia on Tuesday, voters are once again reminded that Obama and his #1 Cheerleader in Washington, Tim Kaine, continue to demand job-killing tax hikes in the wake of their costly, failed economic policies. As DNC Chairman for the past several years, Kaine fully embraced President Obama’s tax-spend-and-borrow agenda, calling Obama’s failed $787 billion stimulus “one of the first flagstones on the road to recovery,” and promising it would “create or save more than 3 million jobs” while his friends in the Obama Administration projected the deficit-spending spree would hold unemployment below 8 percent. Given the facts that, while our national debt has skyrocketed past its $14.3 trillion limit, our country has instead lost 2.4 million jobs since President Obama came into office and is…

Out Of Touch: Kaine And Obama Fiddle While The U.S. Economy Burns…

Continue To Demand Job-Killing Tax Hikes, Attend W.H. Party As Failed Economic Agenda Continues To Hurt Americans As he embraced his role as President Barack Obama’s #1 cheerleader in Washington, former DNC Chairman Tim Kaine touted the Democrats’ $787 billion stimulus as “one of the first flagstones on the road to recovery,” and promised it would “create or save more than 3 million jobs.”  The Democrats even projected that their massive spending spree would hold unemployment below 8 percent. But over the nearly 2-and-a-half years since the Democrats rammed their stimulus into law, America’s economy has instead been mired in anemic growth and stagnant high unemployment.  In the last 24 hours alone, the Dow Jones Industrial Average plunged by more than 500 points, while this morning’s disappointing jobs numbers from the U.S. Department of Labor reveal that Americans are now in our 30th consecutive month with higher-than-8-percent unemployment – while…

New NRSC Web Ad Highlights Kaine’s Broken Promises, Failed Economic Agenda

$787 Billion Stimulus Debacle Failed To Create Promised Jobs It’s been nearly two-and-a-half years since DNC Chairman Tim Kaine cheered as President Barack Obama and the Democrats in Congress rammed their $787 billion stimulus into law, promising it would create jobs and projecting that it would hold national unemployment below 8 percent.  But today, national unemployment stands at 9.2 percent, and has remained above 8 percent for 29 consecutive months.  Still, Kaine praises the stimulus for what he called its “laser-like” focus on job creation. It’s also been more than a year-and-a-half since Americans read headlines like “White House Plans ‘Very Hard Pivot To Jobs’ Next Month.”  But today, with headlines still reading “DEMS PLAN PIVOT TO JOBS,” CNN reports that “jobs recovery slowed for a third month in a row.”  Still, rather than acknowledge that his policies have failed to create jobs while driving our national debt past $14.3…

Gov’t Report: Results Of Obama-Kaine Economic Agenda Even Worse Than Initially Claimed

Commerce Dept. Report Shows Anemic Economy In Wake Of Failed Stimulus In yet another reminder of the failed economic policies Tim Kaine helped usher in as President Obama’s DNC Chairman, a new report by the U.S. Department of Commerce shows that the United States’ economy is performing even worse than Democrats in Washington initially claimed. As Investor’s Business Daily notes, “after spending $830 billion on stimulus, $700 billion on TARP, with unknown trillions more to be spent on ObamaCare and welfare, the nation’s not better off.”: Obamanomics: In case you thought the economy was doing better, Friday’s report on gross domestic product likely disabused you of that notion. It shows the last two years of economic policymaking have been an utter failure. New data show that the economy has been expanding far less robustly over the past two and a half years than initially claimed. According to the Commerce Department,…

Once Again, Obama & Kaine Stand To Far Left With Calls For Job-Killing Tax Hikes

Former DNC Chairman Again Stands Outside Virginia Mainstream In yet another reminder that his liberal values are far outside the mainstream in Virginia, former DNC Chairman Tim Kaine continues to side with President Barack Obama in demanding more job-killing tax hikes – even as liberal Senate Democrat Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) now puts forth a proposal that does not raise taxes. As CNN’s Gloria Borger noted last night, “nobody today is talking about tax increases except Barack Obama” – with the notable exception, of course, being Obama’s #1 cheerleader Tim Kaine. In a troubling op-ed this weekend in the Daily Press, Kaine parroted Obama’s partisan talking points, claiming that job-killing tax hikes represent the only “balanced approach” to addressing our nation’s debt crisis. Notably, Kaine also showed great enthusiasm for tax hikes in Richmond, twice attempting to levy new multi-billion-dollar transportation taxes and even proposing the largest tax hike in…

Report: Obama-Kaine Health Care Law “May Leave Families with High Insurance Costs”

In yet other indication of how harmful liberal former DNC Chairman Tim Kaine and President Barack Obama’s massive health care overhaul is to middle-class Virginians, Washington newspaper The Hill reports today that one of the law’s major provisions is poised to slam families with higher insurance costs: A major provision of the healthcare reform law designed to prevent businesses from dropping coverage for their workers could inadvertently leave families without access to subsidized health insurance. The problem is a huge headache for the Obama administration and Democrats, because it could leave families unable to buy affordable health insurance when the healthcare law requires that everyone be insured starting in 2014. Some of the administration’s closest allies on healthcare reform warn this could dramatically undercut support for the law, which is already unpopular with many voters and contributed to Democrats losing the House in the 2010 midterm elections. “Tim Kaine has…
