I am a gay American and an independent voter. I am donating today because there is no future in Socialism. It doesn't work, history proves that over and over. The Republican and Democratic parties have been moving towards socialist ideas for years. I am only now seeing a bright future with the tea party ideas and new Republican candidates. As long as the Republicans can stay out of our bedrooms and embrace Tea Party ideas of fiscal sanity, then there is hope for saving this country.

I would like a commitment from the Republican Party to reduce the deficit and deficit spending by any means possible, including HIGHER TAXES, so longas those tax increases are earmarked solely for debt reduction. This means doing things that may not be politically popular in the short run. Unless I see a major commitment to do what is right, not necessarily what wins elections, this will be my last contribution to eithe major party. This country is headed in the wrong direction economically. It will take brave and committed elected officials to put their personal re-election and power base secondary to the needs of the country and the importance of becoming fiscally responsible. There should and will be some pain for everyone at every income level. But a small pain for a few years is better than the large pain that will come if we do nothing but maintain the status quo.
