As commencement season came to a close this month, we would like to start off by congratulating the newest graduates from the DSCC school of academic embellishment.

Three Democrat Senate candidates were recently caught red handed lying about their academic backgrounds:

  • BuzzFeed News: "Katie McGinty Falsely Claimed To Be First Member Of Her Family To Go To College"

  • Miami Herald: "Patrick Murphy embellished his University of Miami academic achievement"

  • The Washington Free Beacon: "Catherine Cortez Masto falsely claims she was first in family to attend college"

Be sure and read more about their embarrassing embellishments in the state sections below.

Meanwhile, I’m proud to share with you some of the content that our team released this month – including new digital ads, Snapchat geofilters, and a cable TV spot.

Starting off in Florida, "Privileged" Patrick Murphy’s web of lies was exposed this month by CBS Miami’s Jim DeFede. The two-part bombshell investigation into Murphy’s "misleading" and "outright false" claims about his own background reveals that "he has never worked a day in his life as a Certified Public Accountant. And he was never a small business owner."

Murphy also lied about his company’s work, experience, and capabilities surrounding their purported efforts to clean up following the Deepwater Horizon spill.

The NRSC swiftly launched a powerful new cable television ad on Murphy’s serial lying:

  • Florida Politics: "That investigative report by CBS Miami’s Jim DeFede on Democratic Senate candidate Patrick Murphy’s business background continues to enjoy added life in the form of a new television commercial produced by the National Republican Senatorial Committee."

  • The Hill: "Senate GOP campaign arm attacks Fla. Dem candidate over career"

  • Miami Herald: "Republicans attack Patrick Murphy’s ‘career built on lies’"

Politico: “The ad is built around a CBS Miami report which found Murphy exaggerated his experiences as a CPA and small-business owner. ‘What is privileged Patrick Murphy hiding?’ a narrator asks before clips from the CBS Miami report appear on screen."

Townhall: "Brutal: New Ad Destroys Rubio’s Likely Opponent Over Fabricated Accomplishments"

The NRSC’s banner month also included banner ads.

Our digital ad campaign on Murphy’s embellishments targets voters at all ends of the political spectrum in Florida.

TC Palm connected the dots and found that on the very same day Murphy cosponsored a bill expanding EB-5, his super PAC received a donation from a company taking advantage of the program to build the Miami Worldcenter. That same company used Murphy’s construction firm to build the project, from which he profited. As Alan Grayson’s campaign puts it, "voters deserve to know that Patrick’s own company stands to make millions off this program that he’s pushed while in office."

The Miami Herald reported that a new complaint filed with the FEC accuses "Privileged" Patrick of orchestrating a straw donation scheme. The complaint alleges that Murphy’s domestic violence offender friend used relatives to circumvent contribution limits in giving to his campaign.
