Sen. McCaskill funded a trip for Sen. Tester and Sen. Schumer, paying more than $15,000 to get her DC pals to sunnier skies. Politico reported on the excursion:
SCOOP: MCCASKILL’S CANCUN ADVENTURE — Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) paid more than $15,000 for Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.) and their spouses to spend a few days in Cancun in February 2016. Recently filed financial disclosure documents show McCaskill paid $8,235.11 for Schumer and his wife to travel, stay and eat in Mexico, and $7,410.27 for Tester and his wife to take the trip. Schumer traveled from Dallas and returned to Houston, Schumer’s wife traveled from New York and Tester and his wife from Great Falls, Montana.
Sen. Tester said adios to Montana to spend time with his extreme liberal boss, Sen. Schumer, in Cancun, leaving Montanans out in the cold – literally.
He also accepted the trip from one of Hillary Clinton’s first endorsers, Sen. McCaskill. You don’t get much closer to top liberal insiders than that.
Sen. McCaskill has railed against dark money, yet Sen. Schumer’s dark money group, Majority Forward, has already aired ads supporting her. However, it was later revealed that Sen. Schumer and Sen. Tester were invited as “personal friends.”
It’s interesting that Sen. McCaskill is close enough to Sen. Schumer to give him a Cancun vacation, but not to ask him to take down his dark money ads she allegedly despises.
