Washington, D.C. – On Monday, a Meredith College poll was released in North Carolina showing former State Senator Erica Smith neck and neck with State Senator Jeff Jackson, aka Cal Jr., in a Democrat Primary.
This is not shocking as Sen. Smith continues to shore up her liberal support, especially on the issue of the filibuster, which Politico is calling a “litmus test” for liberal candidates. Sen. Smith supports abolishing the filibuster, a radical move that would pave the way for Senate Democrats to enact the most radical legislative agenda in history, while Cal Jr. dodged taking a stand on the issue, calling himself “filibuster-skeptical”.
Statement from NRSC Spokesman T.W. Arrighi: “It’s clear that the liberal base is running the show in the North Carolina Democratic Primary. Liberal Erica Smith is siding with the radical left in their efforts to eliminate the filibuster and enact the most radical legislative agenda in history. Meanwhile, Jeff Jackson, aka Cal Jr., won’t take a stand one way or another. It’s clear that Erica Smith is too liberal for the state of North Carolina.”
