Well what do you know! Joe Manchin has decided that sitting Senators shouldn’t campaign against one another. Conveniently, he came to this epiphany in a year where he is running for reelection.

But Manchin had different views when his name was not on the ballot. In 2008, Manchin served as Chairman of the Democratic Governors’ Association, an organization that raises money to target incumbent Republicans. But perhaps most hypocritically, in 2014, Manchin, through his Country Roads PAC, donated to failed Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes in her campaign against Leader McConnell. Let’s be honest, Joe Manchin really only thinks incumbent Senators shouldn’t campaign against Joe Manchin.

“Joe Manchin is the most transparently hypocritical politician in Washington, D.C.,” said NRSC Spokesman Bob Salera. “Manchin has no problem campaigning against incumbents, unless it’s his own name on the ballot.”
